See if you can think of a place to rank these ......things?

I like to visit texags occasionally to view the latest level of conservative delusion, but this surprised even me. Referring to the 102 year old african american lady that Obama referred in the SOTU, of having waited in line for hours in florida just to exercise her right to vote, these 'things' on texags proceeded with these gems:

The GOP efforts to make it difficult to vote -- this non-driving centenarian probably also has to spend hours at the DMV getting an ID -- may seem to the true believers like a worthwhile step to prevent voter fraud, but to the rest of us seems cruel and undemocratic. (Litte d democratic, which most of us believe in, though some Republicans, as evidenced by recent activity to make Presidential Electors even less connected to the popular vote want to do what dictators do so effectively --"reduce the size of a winning coalition."

I'm sure Rick Scott must have many admirable qualities, but since I don't follow Florida politics much I just get to see how hard he wanted to make it to register and to vote. Florida, under his leadership and encouragement, made it very hard for people in non-Republican areas get to the polls and if they were wrongly put on the list of those ineligible to vote, very hard to rectify the situation. The sight of him on television stirs the kind of emotional response I get from the on screen apparance of Magua, the villain in the Last of the Mohicans.

This needs to be said :- it's conservative/independents like Crockett that provide a sense of balance to a forum. The fact that those goobers eliminate all sane voices is what further dumbs them down.

And about Scott, it was indeed atrocious what he did.

Again, 35's politics of destruction routine continues.

There are plenty of passionate, loyal, smart, articulate liberals on West Mall and elsewhere. 35, however, is not one of them. Playing the politics of destruction on issues for the elderly by referencing texags as a baramoter for conservatives is just another example of he would rather name call then talk about real issues that effect the elderly.

If you haven`t figured it out, texags is the conervative equivalent of Roger35... Kool-aid drinking, foul mouthed, race baiting sheep. They hate Obama not matter what he says or does. They tried to give the credit for UBL, an IC operation, to Gates, who had very little to do with it. So Obama talks about an old black lady waititng in line for hours in Florida to vote...and guess what, they hate it. Surprise surprise.

I live in a battleground state, and I waited in line for 5 hours. Apparently, that was normal in most battleground states. I would certainly be a litttle unhappy seeing key democrat demographic groups prioritized over me. 35 could not or care to empathize with that perspective. That said, is it outrageous to have different lines for seniors over 80? No...someone 100 years old should not have to wait in line for 3 hours. They should not have to wait 30 mins. But instead of singling out the elderly (and using a 102 black woman as an example), why don't we talk bout making voting easier for everyone?

What he and Roger35 do is play the politics of destruction...the politics of fear...implying conservatives hate poor black people, by citing texags of all things...saying conservatives don't want old black people to vote. It's disgusting. What intelligent, smart, respected liberals do is argue and debate the details and economic impacts of the GOP's and Dem's policies that affect seniors. Roger35 doesn't do that...he goes straight towards the hate.

I think it is admirable that she voted but the fact that she had to wait so long maes one wonder WHY?
Why didn't she early vote? or why didn't she request an absentee ballot?
perhaps some of the disgust over her having to wait so long should be directed toward her family who could have easily make things more comfortable for her.

any person who migrates here a the age of 87 and became at citizen at age 95 deserves to be treated better by her family don't you think?

I support the right to vote and I honor all who bravely get out and vote.

I also support kindness and courtesy in everyday life.

I support giving turn signals ahead of an approach to an intersection or entry/exit of a highway.

I support politeness at the checkout counter. And I support 'inside voices' in the classroom and lunchroom.

I support not talking too loud on a cellphone while walking the dog at the crowded hiking trail, or when walking the stroller in a peaceful neighborhood.

I support not texting when driving 80 mph on the freeway.

And I support world peace.

But I don't support the policies of the Democratic Party.

If she was actually a 102 year old white male from Westlake Hills, there would be no issue. This is about getting more welfare dependents through the lines to vote.

If Roger 35's posting were as intemperate and hostile to you angry conservatives as you are to him, you might have a point about him being a divisive poster. If he's wrong -- using logic instead of insults would better way to win folks to your way of thinking.

If he irritates you just to show you there's a different way to look at things ... maybe the Texags political board would be a happier place for you to spend your time.

I agree that voting shouldn't be restricted, especially for political purposes. Waiting 5 hours in line is unreasonable and for the elderly even more so.

However, I also disagree with the notion that everything has to be changed so that no one will ever be inconvenienced. Isn't being able to participate in the political process by voting worth our time, effort, and patience? If voting means so little to people that they won't do it unless it takes nothing and costs them nothing, I am not sure I want those people voting. I am not talking about people who disagree with me politically either. For me, someone who is going to wield the power of a vote should do so only after thinking, reading, understanding, and then investing at least some time or intention to do so. Otherwise, we as a nation are going to do a poor job of electing. And we will all suffer because our leaders will be poor leaders. I am not advocating poll taxes or anything else of the like. But I am saying that I despise the idea that voting should be as easy as watching TV and that if it isn't then some political party is at fault. If the voting process was that easy, that would be great. But it should be important enough to all of us to vote even if it requires something from us. It's that important.

I think the point is...most aggy posters are going to be Republicans...Republicans, I don't think it can be disputed...are now in the minority in the United States...are waging a campaign to make voting more difficult for minorites, the elderly, and to ensure their grip on power by gerrymandering solid Republican congressional districts, i.e. Austin, Texas, USA, being split into no less than five non-justifiable pieces to deny the voters any choice but Tea Pary zealots that a small minority in Austin would voluntarily elect.
I consider this anathama to democracy, more like what a totalitarian regime would enact. These tactics should all be illegal, and they suck.
People should have easy access to voting, and districts should be based on logical geographic boundaries, not power politics.

accurate
I think people always think gerrymandering in wrong unless it is their party doing the redrawing.
