Omaha Severe Weather: Game Might Be Delayed

It's raining at our west Omaha hotel right now (at 12:55 p.m.) and severe weather is forecast a couple of times this afternoon.

I would imagine there might be a delay in either the start of the 1st game or a delay during it. Here's the weather forecast:

The Link

If the first game's start is delayed until after the storms are predicted to pass, it might not start until 3:00 p.m. (or possibly later). If that were the case, I would think the Texas game wouldn't start until at least 7:00 p.m.

Just looked at live radar for Omaha at 1:20 Central and it looks like the rain will be clearing in about one hour so I expect that the Texas game will not start before 7:30 or 8:00 tonight.

I'd much rather the game be delayed than the rain come in midgame and force a stoppage. So in a way I'm kind of relieved that the weather's getting itself out of the way early.

At what point would we be facing the risk of the powers that be postponing our game until tomorrow? Would it then become a doubleheader (if necessary)?

I would think that would be a distinct disadvantage for Texas and really, our bracket overall, so who gets to make that call?

according to the CWS blog on ncaa.com, the tarp is still on the field (as of 2:15 p.m.). and, neither LSU or Arkansas got to warm up b/c of the rain, so once the tarp comes off, it will still be about an hour, 20 minutes before first pitch. so, right now, we're looking like a 4 p.m. start (at the earliest) for Arkansas-LSU. that would likely push Texas back to after 8 tonight.

uh, that's a replay from the other night

NCAA.com says LSU-Arkansas first pitch set for 3:38 p.m. today. there's also a note that says they will get in the Texas game tonight. i guess that's assuming there's no more rain, and it does look like the rain has cleared.

I don't want to delay the game till tomorrow. That gives an already tired ASU team another day of rest. A delay would benefit ASU more than us I think. If its a double header tomorrow...I don't know???

if the Arkansas-LSU game goes extras and finishes at 7:30 or so, I'm guessing the earliest they could start our game is 8:30-8:45?

8:30-9 is what i heard for texas start time. i swear i just saw them working the field for the lsu/arky game

good point about clearing the stands. It can't be quick to move 24,000 people.

1:00 a.m. is looking good, our games have been averaging between 3.5 and 4.0 hours.

Reminds me of the olden days, when ESPN didn't rule the schedule and they played at 5 and 8.

But the commercial breaks have gotten longer and the play has gotten slower.

I once witnessed a game there between Oklahoma and Arizona State in which nine scoreless innings were played in an hour and 35 minutes. I kid you not.

The show after our game is Boxing and it is long. Something told me to record that. Whole block and not just a portion! Thank you, something.
