Going to Omaha this year. First timer and would appreciate any tips from some of you seasoned veterans on hotels, tickets and such. Is there package options?. A website with information would be helpful as well. Thank you in advance for your help. Hoping to see the horns making a long run there this year.

We normally booked hotels around Jan/Feb for the CWS. We've been going for almost 10 years now, fortunately we now have a hook-up at Harrah's and stay there for dirt cheap.

There are probably some decent hotels still to be had, but likely slim pickings. We never tried to find any packages, so can't help much there.

As far as tickets, when Texas isn't playing we usually wait until the 2nd/3rd inning and get some for under face. When Texas is playing, fans have the option to wait in line for tickets the day of the game around 6 am ... which is usually what we do. They have about 2,000 per session, and most of them are actually pretty good seats.

PM me in you have any more questions ... we're pretty veteran CWS go'ers.

I have been 2 times (both times UT was there). Don't worry about tickets. Scalp at face, sometimes cheaper, sometimes slightly more.

I don't know if they have had a true sellout there.

Ton of fun though. Eat at Johnny's Italian Steakhouse if you can.

Went in 03 when Rice won it. Several things got my attention...

1. Even if you can't park by the stadium, they had parking across the interstate and then you could just walk across to the stadium.

2. Omaha is tailgate heaven. PLENTY of tailgating space. LSU fans brought their RVs and stayed even when the Tigers got eliminated.

3. Sit in the bleachers not down the baselines. Those seats are awful - no legroom at all.

4. Pack LOTS of sunscreen.

5. Do the zoo right across from there if you have time - one of the world's best.

After fans of a team that has just been knocked out of the tourney are leaving the stadium, I ask if they have any tickets to sell. Many of them are ready to head home and had tickets to sell or give away. These same people are moving out of their hotel the next morning even though they had reservations for the duration of the tournament.
