Olymphian Swimmer Missy Franklin considering Texas

She is 1 7 and just about to start her senior year in high school and had great success at the 2012 Olympics winning 4 gold and 1 bronze medals. She wants to have the college experience and is some schools she is considering USC, California, Georgia and Texas. I hope we can schedule her during a big football game along with volleyball so she can really experience an Austin experience.

I saw her talking to Bob Costas last night. She seemed like a really nice young lady who had done well at some sort of swim meet they held in London. She is bright, enthusiastic, a real team player who smiles a lot -- just looked like the kind of person who belongs right in here in Austin. Do you think we could find a scholarship for her?

To add to the above about her I was impressed with her reasons for going to college. She could make big money going pro but wants the college experience and education. It's actually a goal of hers since being a younger kid and I praise her for going through with it.

She mentioned the other 3 schools first then Texas so here is to the Horns doing real well this year and her visit being stellar. What a great Longhorn she would be.

John trained with Mike Peterson with Andy Nieman at Mission Aurora Swimming team and with coach Eddie Reese at College in Texas.



He won a scholarship at the University of Texas in Austin and committed in December.

Let's hope they fall hopelessly in love and cannot bear to be separated for a single day.

Just kidding. Seems like a nice young lady who would be a credit to the University and a stellar athlete as well.
