Ole Miss player allergic to strenuous exercise

I hate to make light of a serious situation, but I have never in my life heard of this. Seriously? An allergy? Even though it's like 110 degrees outside, I honestly checked my calender to make sure it wasn't April Fool's Day.

Another reason I got out of coaching...

It is probably exercise-induced anaphylaxis. This is an unusual but potentially fatal condition, if appropriate care is not provided during an attack.

I suspect it is strongly related to exercise-induced asthma, another allergic type of condition. As far as I know, the patients do not purposely experience nausea, vomiting, cramping, vertigo, dizziness, hypotension, and wheezing just to get out of exercise.

This reminds me of a football board game I got around 1974-1975 called Pro Draft (still have it). It uses real NFL player cards with rating cards assigned randomly for the players.

There are comments on all of the rating cards, with some of the ones on the lower valued ones priceless. Some of the comments I recall are:

"Refuses to play on Sundays"
"Plays in band at half-time"
"Allergic to plastic grass"
"Too many business interests"

There are several more, I just can't remember them. Sorry, I had to share.

I wonder how Jimmy Johnson would handle this kid?

I remember seeing a news report from a season-opening practice in the first or second year of the Jimmy Johnson Cowboys era. He's running everyone practically to death, and there's one guy who's about to keel over, trying explain to Jimmy that he has asthma. Johnson bellows, "THIS AIN'T THE [BLEEP] ASTHMA FIELD!"

We later found out that the guy was a punter, and he was cut the next day.
