Old School Austin Question

My folks used to live here back in the 1950's and mention several businesses and we are trying to determine where they were located.

Big Bear Food Market or Big Bear Market.

Youngblood's Chicken

And the last, which my father can't remember the name, but it was known as the Park & Fight. It was either a beer bar or burger place he thinks was on S. Lamar or Congress where people would get together and party. A lot of fights used to break out here he said, hence the name.

If anyone remembers these places, please let me know.

Thanks....

Only thing I remember that is even approximate to that is in the 60/70's, and it was a small market off of Duval on 43rd. May have been more, I just don't remember much from back then without having a flashback.

If memory serves, there was a Big Bear Market on South Lamar, about a block or so north of Barton Springs Road. Or maybe I'm confusing it with another market on South Congress, just south of the river between Barton Springs Road and Riverside, somewhere in that area.

Youngblood's used to be on North Lamar at or near the Koenig Lane intersection. May be a vacuum cleaner place now. Best fried chicken on earth....

There was a Youngblood's Chicken on South Lamar, just north of
Barton Springs Road on the West side. They had coops in the back
full of chickens...

It closed down in the late '60s and was replaced with a Mickey Mantle
restaurant.

Big Bear was where the 7-11 now stands on Lake Austin Boulevard, across the street from Maudie's, near Exposition. We lived up the street in the old Brackenridge Apartments, which was married student housing at the time - a real roach motel. We used to shop there when I was little and my Dad was attending grad school at UT.
