OU at 11-2, Horns at 11-2.

Pretty similar resume's to this point, with 3 common opponents, three VERY similar results, they lost to MSU by 11, beat Mercer by 14, beat UTA by 2. MSU was at a neutral site, Mercer and UTA at OU according to the ESPN info.

Horns lost to MSU by 14 (in Austin, of course), beat Mercer by 3, beat UTA by 3.

Only slight differences at this point are those two Horns road wins over Temple in OT and UNC. Not sure OU has that experience under their belts yet. Their last game, versus LaTech at OU, was a loss in OT.

OU is 5th nationally in scoring offense; Texas is 9th nationally in overall rebounding.

OU is 26th RPI; Texas is 45th.

Should be an evenly matched game and one the Horns really can't afford to lose.

I will also be keeping an eye on OSU vs K-State on Saturday. The former is clearly one of the top teams in the Big 12 and the latter has played a pretty weak schedule, but are on a roll and have a couple of good wins in there. It could give an indication that the conference schedule is even tougher than originally thought.

You know, not to get any dust up started, but I'm really, really more excited about the Horns roundball season this year than I was about football going into the football season. And I'm not that big of a basketball fan.

I saw Barnes last night on his LHN-covered radio show with Craig Way. Barnes has a rested, relaxed demeanor about him this year. Looks like he's got a little smirk/smile going on as compared to last year.

I think he's got a core group of good kids that are going to hang around for more than one-or-two-and-done and get bigger and better and play together better as it goes along.

Ridley and Ibeh are beasts, Taylor looks like he could be another TJ or AJ (okay, I'll back off a bit, but he shows real promise), Holmes provides leadership, Lammert and Felix are dependable, etc., but more than anything else they all look like they're working well together.

If they can only make their freethrows.

We'll lose if OU controls the tempo. We need to bring it to them similar to the UNC game. Show them that we can do what they do, and rotate well on defense.

This is a really big game to see if Texas will be a player or get the conference record needed to make the NCAA tourney.

OU is good, but most likely a middle of the pack conference team. You have them at home and it's game you should win to achieve your goals for the season. Most likely a run and gun offensive show.

Texas is probably even a slight favorite in the game. It's a great game to start conference with against an old rival that should draw a decent crowd. Should be an interesting test and I hope they pass it.
