I have posted before, but I was invited (at their expense) to speak to the Northwest Tribal Council about an environmental deal they wanted to do. Their lawyer arranged everything. My opening remarks were, "My grandmother was full blood Chreokee, and we have relatives who are Choctaw. NO ONE in my family is hyphenated. We are "Indians". If that offends anyone in the room, send me home now."
The head of the council laughed and said he agreed. Later found out he told the lawyer if I came in with political correctness and used the PC "term of the day", they wouldn't do the deal.
