ok, so gramma bought up worm's debt

he paid thirty cents on the dollar, not a lot of faith in worm in the business community. well, kgb backed him or whatever. he owed fifteen grand to like five guys, but now owes 25k to gramma.

so let's do the math. first of all, how did 15 become 25? i know worm said the "juice was running the whole time", but what whole time? gramma bought the debt while he was locked up. the five guys didn't run the juice, why would gramma run juice when he probably only had the debt a matter of months.

ok, and thirty cents. so for 15k, he paid only $4500, and now wants to collect $25,000. i mean ****, he already took 10k from worm in the bathroom of the strip club. he's already doubled up. who knows what kind of deal he has with the mad russian, but he's obviously invested.

or i guess it was just about getting revenge on worm because he used to be his lackey.

i know this movie has like 700 plot holes, but i never really thought of this one. gramma is one shrewd businessman.

The juice by guys like that is steep and multiplies rapidly. Not yearly, weekly more than likely. Worm was away a few years, right? At least two or three, I think. That would get out of control quickly.

I have always assumed that while "friends" befoe, Worm really was a dick to Gramma in the past and Gramma found it to be a pleasure to **** him over bigtime and to make him miserable.

Gramma had money invested in that buyout and wanted to make it worth his while. KGB did not want to have kill Worm so even a fraction of money owed was better than nothing. He had bigger fish to fry and things to tend to.

also, beating chan was "great play" but losing to kgb has to be considered a bad beat. he played it perfectly. his whole "i just got outplayed speech" isn't making any sense.

of all the plot holes, the fact that Worm owed a shitload more once he got out than when he got in was never even a slight concern for me.

The writers explained that point very well I thought.

They tell worm (and later worm to Mike) that the juice was flowing the entire time he was in prison (which is implied to be about 1-2 years)

Then, when Petra (Famke) comes to collect the juice at Mikes house, we are told that Mike owes a $1,000 bucks in juice on the 5 or 6 large that Worm borrowed after just one week- thats close to 20% interest in a WEEK.

Hell, Worm owing only $25k after a year or two looks like a ******* bargin

yeah, he was inside for 18 months i believe. and i have no doubt about the juice. what i guess i was getting at, is that gramma (and kgb) bought up the debt probably a whole lot closer to the end of the sentence than the beginning. and you wonder if whomever held these markers included crazy juice when they sold them for thirty cents on the dollar. either way, gramma made a killing just at the strip club.

when you buy a debt, you buy the right to collect the whole amount. what gramma paid for the debt doesn't matter. worm owes him the 15k plus interest.

if worm was away for 18 months after gramma bought the debt, and the juice was running at 40% a year, that would be 10k on 15k in 18 months, for 25k total. that's a lot of interest, but remember, it was gorilla math.

what always confused me about the jiuce was the fact that if you hit 'em hard and hammer them on the juice they could just skip town and you get nada.
I guess you can send guys to track them down, but it seems like you would want make it just enough to think they can somehow pay it off.

yeah, i get that. all i said was gramma had a hell of a deal, basically already ahead before any of the poker nonsense. and he was away 18 months total. i seriously doubt he bought the debt until a little before worm got out.

goes to show, you just can't trust gorilla math.

i never actually "watch it", but it's on all the time, so i catch parts and have it on in the background. i saw parts of two different rain man showings today as well.
