Ok I'll say, last night was more than good, there was a new ingredient we have not had since VY

Last night was great. I agree it is not a season or a guarantee of a championship or time to lay off the gas.

But, this was not just a sign of talent on defense, offense, coaching, and multiple players. There was a calmness, almost Tom Landry-ish. Longhorns calmly go for it on 4th down, not out of desperation but because Texas believed they would win. The Texas defense and offense were playing well. Their coaches were calm and confident. Ewers was cool as a cucumber. Freshman were disrupting Alabama's QB. They took a punch and punched back. They were Landry, plus Vince Young, plus Clint Eastwood. The crowd in Austin disrupted Bama the year before. Bama bragged they would put our band in the parking lot even though their band had failed to show at all.
Not many gave Sark and his boys a shot but they kicked in the door. And when Bama took the lead for a few minutes, Sark calmly sent Bama on a "Missouri Boat Ride". It was glorious. only a few saw it coming.

Oh yeah!

I remember when we came up to the line on 4th down vs. USC in the National Title game. I just knew Vince Young would put the ball in the endzone. A serene, calm, confidence.

:ut:

Herbstriet and Fowler didn’t seem surprised by the performance, or at least after the TD throw to Worthy.

Two OU analysts (and former players) described Sark's offense as one of the best in college football at getting the ball to playmakers in space. Riley and Sark were the two that they said were in that grouping as of now. They explained that it looked the most like an NFL offense out there.

Josh Pate from Late Kick said after the game that he wandered around the Texas Hotel talking to players and just observing and he said it felt like Texas was there for a road game against OK state or Kansas. Were totally calm and focused. Also reported the sideline never deflated and was totally even keeled even after going down late. Me thinks this is partly a Sark thing, but also a Quinn thing. He was much more energized, but the dude is still just steady and cool. Prob biggest take away from the game, in line with OP, was staying cool and just scoring 14 points in three plays. Taking a haymaker and giving 2 back.

@OUBubba what are your early impressions of the Sooners so far?
The defense is improved substantially. DL is much improved and deep. Shockingly, that makes the safeties and LB's are more effective. Getting a solid pass rush with the base set really makes the defense more effective. The offense still needs to coalesce a little. I think the OL may be improved over last year. We will miss that hoss of a TE but otherwise WR/RB seem to be good with more depth. Gabriel looks more confident and precise. I'm encouraged. That said, I was encouraged last year until he got knocked out at TCU.

I agree and the sense I get that’s different about this team is their mentality, toughness, and seem to have each others back. They seem to all be on the same page which is something we have not seen here in a while. Hopefully, my read is correct. Sark seems to have come in and turned this locker room around and developed a stable, cohesive environment that will go a long way towards success.

All of that. What team now believes that the offense and the defense are their collective strength?

Just returned from our trip on the good ship Lollipop early this morning.

I had the game + all the LHN pre/half/post game shows set to record. Didn't want to know anything about it until I got home and could watch it.

Disembarked the ship, cab took us to LGA with plenty of time left before our flight. Boarding began; our group number called; just about to scan our tickets when an announcement came that the plane had a problem and boarding would be delayed.

After 7½ hours sitting in the terminal, I became terminal and logged in to HF. Went to the game post and read all your updates. Security came twice and told me to stop yelling at my phone.

Finally got to board and take off 9 hours late. Arrived home dog-tired about 3 AM but turned on the recordings anyhow.

WHAT. A. GAME!

So proud of Sark, the coaches, the trainers, and our boys!
