Baylor, particularly LaceDarius Dunn, just got hot while we went cold--from beyond the arc, from the foul line, and even from 2 feet (our guards missed several layups).
EDIT: But, yes, when Dunn nailed his second trey to trim the margin to 5, I started to get nervous.
When we miss 15 free throws and the other team has a hot player that is a recipe for disaster. The Horns were fortunate to get the win yesterday and against a better coached and more disciplined team they wouldnt have been. As good as this team is it has a lot to work on.
Baylor presents problems that other really good teams don't. Their pure athletic ability is better than most teams. That final game in Waco is going to be a tough one.
Last five-six games we've gotten into a pattern of putting teams away in the first ten mins and cruising to victory. baylor was the first team to answer in the second half. IMO this is a good thing psychologically for the team. we've been getting a lot of positive press of late.
Tech got within 6 in the second half. We didn't score for something ike 7 1/2 minutes to start half and then a Tech guy banged knees allowing Tristan to get under the basket alone and we got a dunk. The difference in the Tech game from the Baylor game was once we started scoring we closed out the half reasonably well and Tech lost their mojo.
If we ever put together a complete game (both halves like our best conference halves (2nd half KU, 1st half everybody else), and we shoot freethrows, it will be a beatdown 2nd to none.
If you think this UT-Baylor game was scary, wait until we have to play them in Waco to close out the regular season. We gave the Bears too much confidence with our play. I think we have set ourself up for a Baylor ambush in the rematch.
