has anyone tried one of the oil-less turkey fryers?

i would be willing to give a little on taste if the results are near the taste of frying in peanut oil

I doubt the taste will be similar.

If you want to cook/roast a turkey then why not just use an oven?

I also doubt that there exists significant differences in healthy eating between frying and roasting.

I did the frying in peanut oil a few years ago. To make it cost effective, I cooked 2 turkeys for Thanksgiving dinner, another one for my parents, and three for the neighbors. Out of a total of 5 gallons of peanut oil that was used, we poured all but about one cup of the oil back into the jugs when it was time to clean up. I was amazed that such a small amount of oil was actually used/absorbed in the cooking process. It made me feel less "unhealthy" about having fried turkey for Thanksgiving.

I'm not a big fan or frying turkeys, and I think brining is a waste of time and effort.

Making a good turkey is easy... use a boil n bag. Tiddy-Boom.
