OHIO STATE'S CLASS!

Just looked at Rivals. Ohio State's class is unreal.... look at page two.... all the guys who are top 10 at their position.

AND, as usual, USC is doin great.

We need to get a few more top guys... read OOS.... to stay with them.

Nice schools to compare MB's class against. Kind of like comparing Akers' classes to SMU & Barry's classes. Start paying the kind of cash that Tressel and USC are giving out and Mack will get those classes. All things considered, MB does a great job of getting them to Austin, considering the airplane tickets, insurance annuities, and other forms of payment being passed out by other schools.

I've heard about most of these guys, but where's the proof, where's the NCAA?

Most of what has come out in the paper is not adequate to convict and
although I do not doubt that they cheated, when do other schools stand up and kick them out?

Leinarts dad owned the condo and Jarret was his best friend and stayed with him. Much the same way that Chris Simms would fly out Roy Williams and other wr's to Jersey to work with them over the summer sometimes to get timing and rep's in. I never had a problem with that housing issue when I learned more about it. Had Mr. Leinart been doing this for several or more than one other player not his sons BFF then maybe it would be different.

I find Reggie Bush's situation to be disgusting too.

Sick.. 17 of the 23 commits are 4 stars or better!? I heard they could take up to 30 kids this class. The sweater vest is assembling a pretty impressive class up there.

I thought that each class was limited to 25 players with a total of 85 overall.

If you can take over 25 there must be lots of attrition up there and that could be bad in the long run.

This class will likely be 27 or 28.

Transfers, early departures, and small classes these last couple of years have caught up. Pretty good year in state and Tress has continued to plumb Fla. with great success (may yet get a 5-star RB out of the sunshine state, as well). Will definitely get another 5-star OL, maybe two (Watt out of Ill. is taking his time).

Next year will be a big class, as well, as alot of graduation, etc., is going to occur.

One can never tell how this will all pan out, and they are taking alot of ath/wr/db types, so there may be some attrition before signing day. Still, Tress has been killing it on the recruiting trail, especially since he started making serious inroads into PA.

Even though the Bucks have been to 3 of the last 6 MNC games, winning one, there are many in the Buckeye nation that believe the program is still ascendant, that the best is yet to come. I don't think that such is out of the question as I think talent will be better, though you can't really get much luckier than the chain of events which led the Bucks into the MNC game this past season. So, on the one hand, the team can definitely get better, but the luck pendulum is going to swing against us one day.

One thing is sure: The talent that will be assembled around Terrelle Pryor is going to be full-blown illness, both sides of the ball (though I am of the opinion that DT needs shored up).

The success that VY had on the big stage has helped turn TP into a phenom which, in turn, has helped the Bucks with their recruiting this year, and prolly next (not to mention tOSU's undeniable success under Tress, their state of the art facilities, etc.).

Full blown illness.

As it says in the bible, 'Come and see...'

Ohio St. is pulling in its same share of talent but is also getting the talent that doesn't want to go to Michigan but WTF is going on there right now.

No QB recruit, 1 solid RB recruit, 2 speedsters at WR, but not alot of size, 2 solid OL prospects, average to weak DE and DT class so far, 2 Big time LB prospects, an all-star team at DB with 5 four stars, and a bunch of athletes.

OSU had a so so class in 05 (with 7 three stars and 2 two stars out of 18 total) as well as in 06 (10 of 20 recruits with 3 stars) and a small class of 15 in 07.

It is time for them to start bringing in the talent to rebuild around Pryor. With the below average recruit they had gotten in 05 and 06 and the small class sizes as well I think it will take 2-3 years for them to get back into swing of things.

You think he is going to come in as a true frosh and light it up?

I'll stick by my 2-3 year prediction. Granted Big 10 is a bit down right now you do have USC scheduled at USC this coming season. Could be a 2 loss season easy before the bowl game.

No problem Buckhorn. I always value your input and you are one of the better posters on here.

I was meaning that Pryor will be here in 08 as a true frosh and that this current recruiting class of 09 is being built around him. I don't see alot of depth from previous classes especially when you factor in the early NFL departures. I was also saying that I don't see OSU being a contender for another 2-3 years starting with this year in 08. USC on the road and some depth issues will spell 3 loss season possibly.

But then again OSU always wins 1 more than you expect so let's say 2 loss season and a shot at a BCS game. And they have Boeckman back as a 5th year senior to allow Pryor to come along at his own pace and start day one his soph season.

It's cool. I think that you are rather askew in your assessment of tOSUs returning depth, though, with the departure of Antonio Henton, QB is thin as I don't trust Pryor to be particularly effective until I see it. Every other position has better depth than at any other time in Tressel's tenure, including '02 (the TALENT on the DL is not as good as '02, but it is better than '05 or '06). 3 losses seems really pessimistic to me, though there is no doubt that there is a landmine in SoCal that the Bucks must step on and survive if they are to control their own destiny. Even a loss to SoCal won't spell doom so long as SoCal finsihes well and the game is close. No matter what people say during the off season and early in the actual campaign, a 1-loss Buckeye team that falls only to a top 5 or so USC team on the road will be a contender based on what happens in late games and conference championships. I honestly don't see anyone beating us in the Big X, though anything is possible, especially on the road against Wisky and Ill (both have lost key elements).

As to the class of '09, I agree that it will take the Bucks a year of so to recover from the personnel losses that will happen after this year. However, Tressell has proven that he can win big (games and numbers) with rebuilt squads, so I won't count him out of the BCS until they revert to '04.
