Ohio State

Doubtful that money was the issue. And they won't get walz so they'll likely end up with a mediocre name and shoot themselves in the foot

I thought Ohio State would have been tough the first few years given the loss of Hill on a mediocre team, and no one signed for 2013. There is a lot of top talent from Ohio in the 2014 class but I have no clue if they're all still available, and who may/may not have been interested in tOSU (hard to keep up with now that Hoopgurlz is gone and no longer updates their lists). There's no rush as she's clearly at or near the top of the list for most top programs with vacancies.

I can appreciate both of your continued support of former coach. Now that USC is the only major program to have a vacancy unless you consider Pitt to be a big job, pickings are slim. And certainly most will have only so much dollars to fund an "elite" coach. The timing of this job search is indeed telling; only a year after being tired? What does that say? Plonsky is incorrect, now our program joins the ranks of being a stepping stone vs a destination. Ohio State did their diligence and not rush the process, which I applaud.

@pdx: i was going to leave this alone or let it go. the continued discussion just proves my point at how the past 5 years was a disaster!

This gets pretty comical after a point. You want to be able to let the woman live her life. And I dont know if you've ever taken a FULL YEAR off of work, because thats a very very very long time to just be playing golf and traveling. But if she truly were tired, that would be ample time to recharge and be ready to go again. Can anyone blame OSU if Walz was their top target? Thats exactly who I wanted to be here, so I can understand their logic. But you wont find anyone they're considering for that job that has a better resume than GG. Personal feelings aside and still counting the average 5 years on the 40 acres, her resume still stands amung the greats and thats telling in itself.

Like stocks, past performance is not indicative of future success. Texas has "done that" with respects to hiring an elite coach. I agree, Walz should have been hired had our beloved Plonsky had the courage to consider a male.

Great hire by tOSU. Coach McGuff was awesome in Seattle. He's going back home. Lots of upside at a major program.
