Official NFL Draft '08 Thread (Saturday Rds 1 2)

these first five picks shouldn't take so damn long. each team should have a good idea of what they're already doing.

do they use their time because the NFL and ESPN asks them to?

Some times, teams are actually trying to cut a deal with the player (Cowboys did this with James Francis in '91 before "settling" on Emmitt Smith) or waiting for a trade offer. I presume most of the time they know what they are doing and just dick around.

QB Matt Ryan of BC to the Falcons third overall.

Raiders up.

I have my doubts about Matt Ryan. The plays I have seen that demonstrate his "accuracy" look like the kind of passes that lead the NFL-in interceptions.

McFadden to Raiders 4th overall.

Regardng Ryan, I agree somewhat with the good doctor. He made some great plays and appears to have terrific leadership, but some of those passes did hang a bit.

This is about how I would have predicted. Many thought Atlanta would go Dorsey but they needed a QB bad. Dorsey can't fall to NE can he?

Texans fan, here. I'm hoping beyond hope that Mendenhall or a LT is avaliable at 18.

Two trades put New Orleans in NE's spot and Jax in Baltimore's.

USC DT Sedrick Ellis to NO in the 7th spot, DE Derrick Harvey of Florida to Jacksonvile at 8.

Bengals just picked Keith Rivers, 'SC LB at 9.

BMBMD..good call....no one knows how they will produce until they get on the field. How do we know McFadden isn't the next Curtis Enis ?????

Surely you're not saying that you called these as well ?????

The Raiders are a mess. They have 2 or 3 good RB's already. McFadden was a terrible pick. They need tons of other things besides another running back.

While $$$$$$ fixes many things, I can't imagine McFadden being thrilled.

I assume that most of the top picks were praying Oakland didn't call their number.

I remember reading somewhere last year that Adrian Peterson was reconsidering going pro because he was afraid Oakland would take him #1. Once he was assured they wouldn't, he declared.

Can't blame him. That's where NFL careers go to die.
