Offer extended to Jake Matthews

I know we have a load of incoming O-lineman, but I have heard UT is going to go after 2-3 more in this class. Why not offer arguably the top one? It's official, Jake has his offer from Texas.

Rumor has been that he will take his time. Time will tell if he goes aggie with his brother, Texas, or USC, or elsewhere. Here's for hoping.

We've got ground to make up in recruiting Matthews...but why not? He's got the bloodlines and he's very good on his own.

I think SC has a good shot at Matthews and Evan Washington, another OL from Texas. OL is a big priority for USC in 2010.

It's very early though.

It's interesting that both Kevin Mathews and Clay Mathews Jr. had to walk on (I think each earned scholarships eventually), even though they had NFL dads. Now, this one is one of the top recruits.

Jake is a friend of my oldest son and he is a great kid. I would say SC is the frontrunner with aggy not far behind. We do have some ground to make up. BTW he has another brother Mikey who is a freshman and friends with my second son. He is already 6'4" and 235. He wants to put on another 30 pounds by fall and push for varsity. He is a beast. down the pipeline there is Luke who is 9 or 10 with the same genes.

Based on the prior comments he must be worth an offer but if he takes too long we better pull it and offer it to someone else who really wants to come here rather than lose the second one because we held it out to no avail.

Oh man, you know you are getting old when you watched players in the pros, and now their kids are playing college ball. I'm not even 30 yet. groan.

I remember seeing Jeff Fisher and his family at a Pappasito's in Sugar Land whe nthe Oilers were still in Houston. His son Brandon was young, and a dead ringer for Eddie Munster. Then I saw him playing for Montana on ESPN, and he is a junior!
