Taking wifepepe and babypepe home to austin for the TEXAS-tOSU game this week, and we've volunteered to give sis-in-law a break and take her kiddos for an afternoon...

Anyone have suggestions for good places -- beyond the usual children's museum, zoo, barton springs, greenbelt -- to take a 5 yr old, 3 yr old, and 2 10 month-ers?

Phil's Ice House on Burnet just south of Koenig (2222, or whatever it's called at that point).

There's a thread about Phil's somewhere on this board.

It's a burger joint hooked up to an Amy's Ice Cream. There's a nice playground out front, too.

Take them on the steam train tour of the hill country. Not off the beaten path but I don't think many people do this all the time. This weekend may be an exception but every time I have ever called to see if they had seats, they did.

click on the "Ride The Train" for the various routes, times and schedules. The one that goes to Manor and that area is a good price and would be fun for them. It goes to Saltillo plaza that may be a fun thing for them. Grab them some tamales and fruit soda and check out the things in that area.
