Fried Chicken & Pimiento Cheese Sandwiches

I had never heard of this until a friend from Mississippi said if you're going to have fried chicken, you better have pimiento cheese sandwiches as well.

It seems like theres a bunch of regional pairings because my Father in Law from Louisiana has to have Potato Salad with his Gumbo.

He's right. They're both right. Both were delicious.

Are there any other pairings that sound strange that I need to try?

My wife dips Funyons in bean dip.

My dad used to eat leftover spaghetti in a tortilla. Spaghetti burritos.

My Grandpa, always known to us as Charlie, had a serious yen for sour pickles and pound cake. Not dill, but sour--maybe you can still find them in Texas, but they ain't none in Idaho.

When he was fairly young, he hitched a ride on a freight wagon from Sealy to Austin. For a few days, all they had to eat from the wagon was the pickles and pound cake. An acquired taste I gather.

I like a spoonful of cottage cheese next to my spaghetti. My wife found the thought offensive but later agreed that they go pretty well together. The soft white cheese and the warm red sauce create some tasty pink slop that's great for soaking up with garlic bread.

The cottage cheese makes sense cuz it is a good substitute for ricotta in lasagna.
Had a chocolate cake that had rinsed, chopped saurkraut in it - delicious.

My family used to be in the theatre business, and my dad loved to eat popcorn with mustard. And I must say, it's a pretty good combo.

Old people in Paris Texas - spaghetti/meatballs with sides of cottage cheese and FIVE kinds of pickles and prunes. I **** you not.
