I watched it on TV
1. broadcasting crew has improved considerably with the Aggy out of there. Ensberg was actually very complimentary.
2. The two throws to the plate that resulted in throwing out the Baylor runner at the plate, probably the best throw or throws to home I've seen since Dave Parker threw out that runner in the all star game in the 1980s. Some of you guys probably saw John Elway throw somebody out at a regional at Disch-Falk in the 80s also. I heard about that one, didn't see it.
3. Baylor starting pitcher, Tolleson, I'm into names, and the first thing I thought of was Mike Tolleson, former Texas great, could this be his son? This kid does like a lot of kids do, he pitched the game of his life against Texas. He was absolutely brilliant, he did have to throw more pitches than Green, I actually thought he might be finished by the end of 7, but he kept going.
Big strong kid, wouldn't want to face him again.
4. Ruffin- okay, I'm gonna take some heat on this-bring it. Ruffin looks not nearly as good as Street or Cox. -good grief, is he always this inconsistent? keeps the hitters loose, I agree, but wow!
5. Texas batters. Did not improve against Tolleson like I expected they would have. We needed a couple of guys to choke up, and waste some pitches against this guy. We needed a couple of Kobys (Kerlin). Koby could stand there and take pitches and foul off pitches all day long, and finally walk.
0 walks againts Tolleson? Really?
When you're up against a pitcher having the greatest game of his life like that, the easiest way, imo to get him out of there is to tire him out. With a couple of Koby wannabees, Tolleson could have been out of there by the end of the 7th, no doubt, game might have kept going, but would have ended probably 11th or 12th instead of 14th.
The psyche is bad about the strikeouts at this point, but we should get healthy against a #3 today. But, the bad news is that in Omaha you don't get to go up against a #3.
Weak bats could kill us in Omaha, that's the only thing, imo.
