Obnoxious Texas Tech Players

I have been attending Texas football game for many years along with our other Texas fans in the UT motorhome lot. The trips to Lubbock are always a challenge due to the combative and obnoxious behavior from the Tech fans, students and players. The Tech officials and law enforcement provide no security. On Sunday, during the Texas Tech baseball game, the Tech players began taunting UT players and became provacative to the extreme that the unmpires had to stop the game and warn the Tech bench. The Tech bench continued to point and holler at the Texas fans near their own dugout. After apparently a complaint by the Tech coach, UT police came down an escorted the Texas fan out of the stadium. It would be nice if we could get the same respomse in Lubbock. It would also be nice if the Tech players had been ejected, The Texas players maintained their compsure and exhibited the class that Texas has.

My dad works down at the baseball stadium and he showed me a picture of what one Tech player did after Saturday's game. The locker room (both home and visitor's) at the disch have padded leather chairs with metal frames and a UT logo (similar to what you might see on an NBA sideline). Apparently a tech player got mad and took out his anger on the chair. The frame was all bent up, chair ruined.

Not surprising to most UT fans unfortunately.

Maybe the next time Tech is lucky enough to get to have a game in Austin they can be greeted with high chairs and sippy cups.

Am I on texags 10 years ago?

Not a big fan of this kind of complaining, but i have to concur. I go to a lot of away games and the only time Ive felt like my safety was in danger simply for rooting for my team was in Arkansas (bball game 1980's) and Lubbock (multiple times). I dont get it because west Texans are some of the nicest people on the planet.

Ive been shoved, hit with full cups of soda, had change chucked at me. Had my hat knocked off while i was pissing. F'ing animals.

Larry nailed it. I went there for two years (grades were not good enough out of HS so TTU was my junior college).
Most of the kids there are from the burbs, from the 60th to 80th percentile of their HS graduating class.

det. shilala, this is getting a little ridiculous. I understand horn fans might have been a little disappointed at losing 2 out of 3 to tech, but come on.

it is not my intent to suggest by any means that texas tech is harvard, but about half the entering freshmen class is in the top quarter of their hs graduating class.

now then, carry on with your criticism, be it reality based or not.

well, to each their own opinion i suppose when it comes to deciding who should be changing tires for a living.

per the wall street journal, college recruiters named texas tech grads as the 18th best in the country.

That is some accomplishment for an article that shows A&M #2 ahead of every other school in the country except Penn State. Hell, Tech is better than Notre Dame? I guess I need to rethink where I send my kids.

my wife and brother both attended tech, one of them actually graduated law school--either would be hard pressed to defend the attitudes of their students in regards
to how their student body reacts to visiting students at athletic events---sorry, lecturer, but wanna be media releases does not hide the truth! btw, I live within an hour from Lubbock, and many of my tech friends are embarassed at how the students react at sporting events...
