Obama's tax cuts

Barack Obama has promised to roll back the Bush tax cut he also proposes a number of tax cuts and tax credits for the middle class and seniors. I found this while browing his website. His website says:Middle-Class Tax Cut – Obama is the only candidate to propose a middle-class tax cut that will provide relief to 95% of working Americans -- $1,000 per working family. He’ll also eliminate income taxes for any senior making less than $50,000.

Making College Affordable
– Obama will provide the middle class a fully refundable tax credit worth $4,000 for tuition and fees every year, which would cover two-thirds of the tuition at the average public college or university.

Easing the Burden on Working Families
– For mothers and fathers who are juggling work and parenting, Obama will expand the child care tax credit for people earning less than $50,000 a year, and he’ll double spending on quality afterschool programs.

Sounds great but as always the devil will be in the details. But even if he were to provide details those are just a starting point for negotiations with Congress which inevitably amends bills. This early in the campaign these general policy goals are encouraging. Still, I wonder if repealing the Bush tax cuts will be able to pay for these and all the other programs he proposes...I'm skeptical.
The Link

apparently only those making $50,000 or less.

People, face it. We have to raise taxes at last for a few years, or drastically, drastically cut spending. In fact, we have to do both.

This is all a result of the distastrous last 7 years. The Republican Congress teamed with El ******* to run up our debt and deficits os large that that is the only solution. We need to get the hell out of Iraq if for no other reason we are squandering this nation's wealth on a quagmire with no benefit to this country.

Seriously I need a lot of stuff defined in here before I get in too much of a tizzy.

In the future I want every politician to have to disclose their definitions of these terms (I'm sure there are more):

Middle Class, Poor, and Rich (dollar values not some BS words)
Tax Payers
Working Americans

I have a feeling to politicians many of us fall into the non-working rich category that should be paying a larger percentage of our income in taxes.

Where in reality most of us probably work pretty hard (when we aren't on hornfans) and pay what we consider to be too much or just enough in taxes while believing we are middle class.

SullHorn, there may be some truth to the right to work state versus union state. Some of the people I know have downright scary beliefs in their unions. It is a safety net that they are scared to live without.

What amazes me is that you actually have a problem with people who really do work for their living. The moment you start despising responsible, hard-working people is moment you've lost touch with reality. You're off the deep end here.

Bru, I don't think he has a hard time with anyone working hard for a living. I believe he is saying that anyone working hard for a living and willing to do whatever it takes shouldn't have a problem exceeding the $50,000 if there are 2 wage earners

I don't personally have a problem with them making that level of income. I know it is extremely hard at that level of income to make ends met. But, that is their decision, no need for government reinforcement. Bru, some people just had rather be broke than expend the extra energy to make more money.

Since the median household income is about $48,000, more than half the households in this country are diserving of disdain. Since the median wage earner makes $26,000, I suppose those families with two wage earners making $52,000/year are the salt of the earth, but those earning $170.00 per month less are lazy ******** who deserve Pevodogs sneering disapproval. Dude, you need to get out more. Your attitudes are what give stereotypes about Republicans legs.

You posted ."My point, everybody has some obstacles to overcome to living a good middle class life, but if you make good decisions, sacrifice a little now for tommorrow"

therein lies the biggest problem. People do't think they should have to sacrifice and generally don't sacrifice
aqnd when they get into trouble they expect the Gov't to bail them out.
How many people use food stamps , well food assistance cards while talking on a cell phone and or wearing the latest in whichever designer footwear or gear tht appeals to them?
How many katrina victims used their fed money for frivilous purchases from expensive handbags to expensive shoes?
How many of those victims are still whining for more gov't money?

The thought of sacrificing in order to pay for necessities never crosses their minds
This mindset crosses all lines
some how we got to the point thaqt all people have the " right" to the same life that others are willing to work hard for and make sacrifices for long periors of time to get to the point they can afford " luxuries"
hard work and sascrifices never never hurt anyone

before the nanny staters tee off,
basic food, basic safe if modest housing and of course access to public education should be and are availble to everyone whyo wants them
No sacrifice needed

I have a family and I work....so I'm golden under his plan.....or is the devil in the details?

Shouldn't we providing tax relief to people who don't pay taxes? Shouldn't that be the first step?

I bet I work an average of 25 hours more per week than the "American Worker" Obama wants to give handouts to. F Obama.

It's amazing how much actually working hard to have a good job and working hard for a living will change your poliltics.

I can't wait till he gets nailed to the wall in the general for his proposed nanny state spending and his tax increases on families with decent incomes. Same 'ol tiredass chicken in every pot democratic politics.
