Obamacare Sticker Shock

I can't wait to hear Pelosi say that every dollar spent on Obamacare is three dollars back into the economy.

It seems intuitive, regardless of the source, that increased healthcare/insurance spending would lead to decreased discretionary spending on the consumer goods that drive our economy. Many corporations that rely heavily on middle-class discretionary spending are struggling (see Darden) and their customers paying ridiculous health insurance premiums will keep them from recovering.

I'm bullish on the US economy for 2014 and think that we will see a continued recovery for a lot of reasons. One of the large vulnerabilities that I see is exactly what this legislation was supposed to address - affordability.

Most of the left Wall Street bankers read the Wall Street Journal. Very few of the left Wall Street bankers read the Huff Post. I guess a somewhat valid argument would be to compare the Wall Street Journal to the magazine the Economist. However, no valid argument could compare the Huff Post with the Wall Street journal unless the comparison was simply that they both have writers.
