Obama with a slight lead in CA?

Your defense of his pandering is that the caller is right, illegal immigrants have cost inner-city blacks jobs.

Typical of Clinton trying to pit one group against another. It is exactly the status quo politics Obama is fighting to end.

The current immigration policies hurt all poor people including the illegal immigrants and frankly hurts most Americans.

We win with cheaper prices, but lose because the cheaper prices result from exploiting undocumented workers, lose because it lowers wages for Americans in unskilled and some skilled occupations, costs taxpayers because of healthcare and other costs that employers should be providing to the illegal workers instead of taxpayers, and fails to help secure the border against terrorists.

Rather than pandering, Obama teamed with Kennedy and McCain and frankly George Bush to pass a bill to address the issue in a comprehensive manner. Hillary was afraid to lead on immigration reform because it is simply to divisive an issue.

They failed and now we are stuck with the status quo. This is exactly what Obama’s campaign is about. There are serious problems with the status quo and yet Washington essentially has done nothing to help fix the problem.

Politicians need to be sent a message that letting a problem fester to use it as a political hammer will not work anymore. Certainly Dems and Repubs are equally guilty. Obama is not naïve and knows that simply electing him will not change Washington. But he also believes that it will be a message that can be built upon if after electing him, we continue to demand excellence from our politicians.

Check out the latest Gallup national poll out today :The Link

Obama and Hillary in a statistical dead heat. There was a 5 point swing in favor of Obama for the 1/31-2/2 interval reported today compared to yesterdays 1/30-2/1 interval.

Remember that all the Democratic primaries split the delegates so it doesn't matter who gets a plurality of a state's popular vote except for the perception of momentum (what the hell is momentum in politics anyways?). These polls indicate Hillary and Obama will split the delegates in most of the states and continue their hard fought campaigns at the same rate as they are now. I look forward to them coming to Texas to campaign.

Other CA polls have also showed that the race has become a virtual tie here, though there are a lot of undecideds. How the undecideds break would decide whether the state goes to Clinton or Obama.

And yes, given the way delegates are assigned in the democratic primary, both Obama and Clinton are going to almost evenly split the 1600+ delegates that are in play.

You really think it is a big endorsement in CA? It has some novelty value, other than that I do not see anything in that.

In general I would think that the undecideds would break more for Obama than Clinton. But it could also be dependent on the makeup of undecided, male/female, hispanic/others .

Yes I do!

The wife of the governor of CA endorses a Dem is a big deal and continues the momentum of the last 10 days in a big way.

Splitting delegates may cause racism charges among blacks and hurt the Dem party. If Hillary loses the black inner cities by a wide margin, but wins in the suburbs and rural areas by a small margin, then Hillary may get more delegates even without a majority of people voting for her.

I am stunned at the people caught up in his speechifying who are not paying attention to what he says.
for instance, his health care plan that would make insurance affordable to everyone by " agressively cutting costs."
what does that mean?
here is another.
for those who choose NOT to buy insurance IF they need health care why they can just make some back payments and presto bingo they are insured.
here is Obama's quote: "If people are gaming the system, there are ways we can address that. By, for example, making them pay some of the back premiums for not having gotten it in the first place. "

but all those who are swept up by a good speech giver will get what they deserve. I just don't want to get drug down with the Agog who can't be bothered to look at the positions to see if they are workable

Kev
you FOUND obama's plan but did you READ obama's plan?
show me where in obama's plan he explains how he will aggressively cut costs. getting the gov't to pay for the high cost of emergency or excessive care is NOT cutting costs

show me where in his plan he explains what he will do with those people who can afford to buy insurance but choose not to? Then those people need med care
he explained during the last debate that he would allow those people to pay some back premiums and thus be covered.
and you think this is a workable plan.?
Why would anyone buy insurance until the needed it?
heck at least hillary will force people to pay for it when they can afford it instead of giving them a pass

Billary is in serious trouble. They are losing massive numbers across the board. Super Tuesday can't get here fast enough for them. She/he has lost their double digit lead in Massachusetts in addition to trailing Obama in California. Her lead is down to +6 in New Jersey where she was up by almost 20 points last week. Her Alabama lead has evaporated altogether. Latest Zogby poll (2/3) shows Obama up in Missouri by 4 points. Mason-Dixon poll on 2/1 shows Clinton's lead in Arizona, 10 points a week before, had dwindled to a paltry 2.

I think Clinton still wins more states that Obama, but her commanding Super Tuesday leads are gone. They will split the delegates fairly evenly and Obama now has more money to press on. I imagine the Texas ad buys will be placed next week, look out folks the circus is coming to town.

Illegal immigration hurts working folks, period. It's not a question of "work ethic." they drive down wages for everyone, educated or not. If Obama can't see that, I fear for the future of this country's working poor.
