Obama Video: Yes We Can

The Video

Goosebumps...first time I could ever say that from anything dealing with presidential elections. I don't know if he can truly change the country, but it is an experiment worth taking right now in my view.

Goosebumps? very ordinary video catering to the teen crowd. Only redeeming feature was the appearance of Kareem Abdul Jabbar who needs more face time on a national basis.

austintx,
I'm a liberal also and want Obama to be the President but this video is not going to push him over the top. It will play well though for the 18-25 yo demographic which was a hell of a long time ago for me.

I'm counting on the 18-25 year olds to put him over the top. The conventional wisdom has always been if you're counting on the young then you'll be disappointed.

Somehow, I think this year will be different. My son tells me that his friends are Republicans but most are supporting Obama.

I've been watching the youth turnout and who they are voting for and that is what is giving me hope.

Once Obama is elected, he's going to give up on Iraq, sit down and negotiate health care coverage on national TV, personally meet with the leaders of rogue nations and invade an unstable, nuclear Pakistan to get bin Laden.

What other specifics are on his agenda?

As a 20-something, I love Obama's plan to raise my Social Security taxes to the tune of thousands per year for the rest of my life. How awesome and youthful!

It might not be realistic, and it might not be worth stepping out on the limb, but what other choice would provide for a true change in the American people?

I'm not talking about policy, I'm talking about people treating each other's views as worth, even if there are disagreements. I'm not talking about Obama necessarily, but isn't the idea of "Yes we can" a lot better than the status quo going on right now in America?

What is your true yes we can? What could the country do, not politically, not economically, not militarily, but as a country to become better?

Nice video. I am on the fence, but it does capture the spirit of the movement that is behind him.

It's interesting to see the long held rallying cry of the Mexican/Hispanic immigrant community (Si se puede!), turn into the basis of a national campaign.

Obama is going to lose his own identity if he keeps trying to beef-up his own campaign by making himself out to be the second coming of JFK, Chavez, etc.

Symbolism and fluff. He talks purty, but that's about it. Electing this guy is like handing over a blue-chip company to an intern. Oh well, it'll be fun to watch.

Nobody has any experience being the President of US. Everybody is a new hire. What one can do is to hire somebody who you think has the capabilities and mental faculties to handle the job. In that way, both Obama and Clinton qualify. Where I like Obama more is that he is more idealistic, partially because he hasn't had enough time to be a Washington insider.
