Obama tries to quote bible

Horn6721

Hook'em
during memorial yesterday Obama said he would quote from Psalm 46 verse 9 as his tribute.
Fine, maybe good choice and should not be a big deal.
but for God's sake if you are going to quote a bible verse wouldn't you at least make sure you quote it correctly?

"He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire."

Obama prounced it as if it referenced bowing at the waist. Not Bow as in Bow and arrow, a weapon just like the other words spear and shields

Aside from the fact that it shows a lack of familiarity with the Bible which btw is not a huge deal even for Christians but is shows a lack of attention by Obama and his handlers. If he and his handlers aren't familiar with the Bible don't use the bible for your quotes

To be so ignorant of a verse's meaning when you are using the verse on a memorial day in front of the nation is pretty astounding.

We, media and posters on here with many threads, made so much fun and laughed at Bush during his time of office if we are to be consistent then it is fair to point out Obama apparently thinks there is only ONE meaning of the word Bow
and we know what that is.

Aside from the fact that it shows a lack of familiarity with the Bible ....

Really? That's what it shows?

I don't know if you're not trying at all or trying too hard.

To what then do you attribute GWB's many gaffes? A lack of familiarity with English?

Per
since You brought Bush up
and to keep it apples and apples do you have an example of Bush reading from a teleprompter and making a gaffe of a quote?

if you really can't see the difference I am betting you don't have a comparable example

I thought mcbrett's misuse of the word annunication was his way of showing his disdain for anything Christian. I guess I gave him too much credit

When I heard that on the radio, I thought he was in church somewhere giving a sermon. Only he sounded horrible. It sounded like he was trying to use the same tone and delivery he did during his Carpet Bagger speech last week before Congress.

So, hopefully he was tripping up over the words because it didn't sound right to him and not because he was having a smoking induced mini brain stroke like my Grandma used to get in her 90's.

I'm not even going to at length consider it was because he hates Christianity, hates 9/11 American martyrs, victims and patriots.

If only I'd have thought to make hay here on the West Mall every time Bush said something dumb! I just always thought it was kind of juvenile to get after somebody for misspeaking:

The Link

OK b I
You mentioned all the gaffes of Bush and Per hasn't answered so I will ask you

to keep to apples to apples I ask you, B I ,can you provide a link showing Bush speaking with a teleprompter misquoted an easily credited quote?

I know you actually know the difference and I know that you know Obama has made many casual gaffes as well.

This is not some misspeak after a day of campaigning and you know it

so
make your case, apples to apples

He didn't misquote it. He mispronounced a word. He read it, probably flashed on "when the bow breaks" or something and he mispronounced it.

Do we not have enough idiocy in D.C. to focus on that this is really worth talking about?

Sounds like we need him to create some jobs with more of our money and have someone build him a new, more modern teleprompter complete with stress marks and pronunciations.

This thread is idiotic. From the claim that because Obama mispronounced a word he isn't familiar with the bilbe to him "misquoting" from a teleprompter (as has been shown it's not a misquote, it's a mispronunciation).

What does this thread accomplish? Annunciation smack??

Annunciation, assumption, immaculate conception, transubstantiation... take your pick.

I think these "gaffes" are related to the modern presidency. The president's schedule is full all day and doesn't have a lot of time to rehearse speeches. The teleprompter's purpose is to make it so he needs little rehearsal time. It's not like Lincoln spending weeks on the Gettysburg address.

Today's approach frees up time for more important briefings and policy sessions. The drawback to it is that there will be mistakes at times. I don' think sacrificing invaluable time to get a vowel sound right is worth it. Some of you must think otherwise.

"You mean you want me to find an instance in which Bush mispronounced a word?

No read the post. I asked you to post an analogous( apples to apples ) of Bush misquoting a sentence of a recognizalbe phrase while reading a teleprompter

and yes obama did misquote it. Look up the word misquote.
Our Potus, in an important speech to the nation should know the meaning of what he is reading.
does anyone who is defending him really think he had never seen the speech before he stepped up to the TOTUS and read it?

It was sloppy but not unusual

No one has ever said Bush did not make some errors. He did not however misread a quote off a teleprompter

BTW Lincoln did NOT spend weeks writing the Gettys burg address before he gave it in Gettysburg.
Lincoln did however write it himself
. Good lord read some history
