Obama Scrambles to Now Approve Keystone Pipeline

"What a difference two months of record high gas prices make. After Obama unceremoniously killed the Keystone XL pipeline proposal in January, and has since seen his popularity rating slide in inverse proportion to the surge in gas prices, which as noted yesterday have now passed $4 (still quite a bit better than Europe's $9.81 average/gallon), he is now actively seeking to fast-track its approval. Or at least half of it. Per Reuters: "President Barack Obama will issue a memo on Thursday directing federal agencies to prioritize permitting of TransCanada's southern leg of the Keystone oil pipeline, a senior White House official said on Wednesday. With his Republican opponents hammering away at the president over high gasoline prices, Obama will visit Cushing, Oklahoma on Thursday to promote his energy policies, which include support for the southern leg of the pipeline."

"Was the president's initial rejection of the Keystone XL simply a farce to temporarily appease the environmental voters who dared to hold him to his own promises about real leadership on the climate and shifting to 21st-century clean energy solutions? It would seem so."

Bill McKibben, who spearheaded several White House anti-pipeline protests last summer, noted that some had suggested Obama rejected

Keystone XL for purely political purposes.

"Then again this is all in a day's work for the man who has just succeeded in bringing YTD debt issuance to a record $122 billion over net tax refunds as of today."

What's funny is the State of Texas and Oklahoma approved this part of the Keystone Pipeline so it's being laid with or without Obama. So what does Obama do? He runs and gets in front of the camera and claims he's going to make an executive order to clear the way for this pipeline at the federal level for that portion of the Keystone Pipeline even though the States don't need that order. So he is trying to make it look like he made the decision for that part of the pipeline.

Obama is looking like a fool.....again.
 
Trans Canada hasn't even applied to build the south leg. This whole situation is a joke. Its looks good for the cameras to support the future build site. Meanwhile he got personally involved to block the house bill that would have allowed the northern half of the project.

Just like the debt discussions last year, Obama is lieing. He is feinging support, he will never let this get done under his watch.

Why in the hell is he in Oklahoma anyway, and lieing to those people? If Obama gets 30% of the vote in Oklahoma, I would be shocked. Hell he lost 12 counties in Oklahoma for the Democratic primary a couple of months ago.
 
He is doing it because he thinks voters are gullible sheep and easily mislead. He really does think we as a people won't pick up on his falsehoods and I am some idiots somewhere are thinking he is now for this thing.

He is no different than any career politician from either side of the aisle.
 
Seriously are there people stupid enough to think BO had to authorize this segment of the pipeline?

I really want to see how MSM handles this. will they report that the segment was already authorized and has nothing do with BO>
he could have saved the taxpayer money and stayed away from Cushing.
 
this mofo really needs to just quit and GTFO of the US. there have been leaders whose ideology i opposed from both parties, leaders who were weak, strong, all flawed, but never, ever has there been someone who i thought was a complete and total piece of fecal matter occupy the office until this moron showed up.
 
I didn't care for Clinton had trouble respecting him for the Lewinsky deal/lie, but never had the disdain that I have for Obama, Carter the same way. This guy is just so far out of this world and will say anything to remain in power. One of the most selfish egotistical presidents every, and they all are.
