The focus of the Obama-Clinton policy in Syria has been to defeat Assad using the Al-Qeda (Nusra)/Rebel jihadists as an asset with the support of the Saudis and Qatar. As the Washington Post article below points out, Obama has just ordered a reversal of the policy and the new focus will be to defeat these same forces. In other words, the policy will now shift to one similar to that of Putin; at least with respect to the Allepo region.
The second piece is an editorial perspective based on the Washington Post article. One question is whether or not the CIA and State Department will be on the same page as the Pentagon with the announced shift.
Also, any such policy shift will not set well with Israel.
