it's a nice thought.

Forty-four percent of registered voters say they are more likely to vote for "the Republican Party's candidate" and 39% for Barack Obama in the 2012 presidential election, according to Gallup's June update.

I have no idea how the real election will go, but I think these polls where you pit a known person against an abstraction are pretty useless. Those polled seem to view the abstraction as an ideal candidate or the one among many choices whom they might vote for (think of the disparity of those thinking of Ron Paul, Pawlenty, Gingrich or Palin).

Further, the campaign will change everything. We have no idea what useless, trivial or false issues will be raised to sway the electorate.

Obama will not lose to anyone except a Reagan clone, of which there exist none. We are ******. The quality of politicians on both sides of the aisle is so poor is makes me highly apathetic, which of course is what politicians want to a large degree. I have no idea why any sane person would want to run for mayor, governor, or any high profile national elected office. It sure is **** is not about service, and I wonder if it truly ever was.
