Obama has given Superdelegates $698,200

Can we get a list of the amounts given to which people? Open records act or something else needed or is it already open recorded somewhere? If not it should be, right?

I am the only one who doesn't understand even the concept of superdelegates? My understanding is that they are party insiders who aren't delegates based on primaires or caucuses? If this is so, how is this at all democratic?

SomeMild, I should have put (sarcasm) next to my comment about this being democratic. I find all of this to be politics as usual. Obama doesn't bring real change, and I don't think any single person can because the system is so stacked against it.
I also find it odd that people think democrats are any more democratic than republicans. (or visa versa)

THIS is a perfect example (and there are a lot of examples these days) of why conservative talk show hosts and such call it the "Democrat Party."

The super delegate system was put in place to insure an "unqualified" candidate does not get the Democratic nomination.

Something the Republicans could have benefited from in 2000.

Ok, I fail to see the big issue here. What's the problem with Obama contributing to the campaigns of elected officials who support him? And yes, I am sure that contributions helped develop/strengthen the relationship as more that half was given in 2005. What's the big deal here?

Disappointing but I am not sure if it is standard.

The deck is stacked against him with the Clinton machine.

I would like to know more before I say this is horrible.

I agree that it is no way to run an election.

My question is if this is true then how does Hillary still lead in super delegates by such a big margin?

Regardless as of right now Obama should be the nominee because he has more pledged delegates...if he has to dish out some money to make sure the system works correctly then so be it.

An elected official's campaign contributing to another elected official or even to a potential candidate's campaign is done by both side of the aisle and has been for a very long time.

These super delegates are mostly elected officials. And are only Democrats.

The Bush political campaign gave a lot of money to candidates that they supported. Same with the Clinton presidential political campaign.

Hillary has been a Senator for a lot longer than sicne 2005 so you'll need to look back a lot further to see the Super Delegates she's donated to. This article has a serious agenda to start looking as of 2005.

It's an apples-to-apples comparison. You want apples-to-oranges.

The time periods are the same, covering the 2006 and 2008 election cycle. And it was only after the keynote address in 2004 that Obama burst onto the national political scene.

Indeed. How do you think Hillary became the establishment candidate? She and Bill has been connected to and contributing to various elected officials for atleast 2 decades. That's a lot of good will. I am sure that their total contributions run into millions. To me this is a total non-story. If this is the best they have on Obama, they need to try harder.

In the last week you see a lot of attack pieces on Obama, especially from NY based media. This is good for the democrats. Everybody knew that at some point Clintons are going to attack and they are very good at it. If he can survive this, he would have some good experience for the general.
