Obama Apologizes For Koran Burning

Once again, our President, who doesn't give a damn when he offends our allies, like Israel or Great Britain, bends over backwards apologizing to Afghanistan, who is not and never will be an ally, over the accidental burning of a few Koran.

I'm sure that the poor American military personnel responsible for the incident will be put through Hell, while the Afghan soldier who shot two American soldiers to death in retaliation will escape punishment.

As an ancient Texan, I learned that if you make a mistake you man up and apologize for it. Just like Bush apologized for Abu Ghraib. He was correct in doing so, IMO.

If it results in the death of one less American soldier before the folly in Afghanistan ends, the "apology" was worth it.

Getting the hell out of Afghanistan would work a lot better than another Obama apology. What is our mission there anyway?

There was no reason to apologize. Later reports revealed that inmates were passing messages to each other via the korans. The books were removed and later burned.

This is pathetic and not unlike the beer-gate incident. BO is too quick to genuflect to muslims.
 
Interesting post dHeiman. I thought that I heard they were passing messages in those Koran, but I heard it on the radio and wasn't positive. Our media hasn't given that part of it very much airplay. Imagine that!

I read that
but what not clear is how the korans, which were supposed to be in another secure area and not intended to be burned got to the burn area
and how afghans just happened to be there and happened to look into the fire and happened to rescue burned korans so they could trot them around the country and inflame the muslims.

This is just too many "appenings" for me to not want to wait until the whole story comes out. Usually we are pretty careful about things like this

I doubt very highly that an American soldier or even a NATO soldier put the Koran's on the fire.
 
This reminds me very much of the Cambridge, Mass issue where Obama did not have all of the fact but he was quite certain that the police behaved stupidly.

The apology was an obvious attempt to help prevent further violence on US soldiers. Unfortunately that just hasn't happened. This to me is telling about the people in that region. They may be the extremists but their actions of violence and murder b/c of this incident cannot be consistent with the true teachings of that book. Furthermore I would think an apology would be accepted to some degree and at least prevent the violence that is occurring. B/c it has not that is just further reason why I think the US needs to withdrawal from that region ASAP. There is nothing left to accomplish there.

Bush apologised in a telephone call on Monday with Maliki, who told him the incident had humiliated and angered Iraq's largely Muslim population, the cabinet said in a statement.

"The American president apologised on behalf of the United States ... promising to present the soldier to the courts," it said.

You don't get to determine what Satchel believes. I'm mocking the OP who had no idea GWB did the very same thing for which he intended to ridicule the President.
 
The issue for the OP seems to be the very fact that the President apologized at all. It's part of a continuing con meme; that BHO goes around the world looking for things for which to apologize.
 
^If you would stop your non-stop sipping of the Obama koolaid and drink a bit of reality, you'd see that Obama has been an embarrassment insofar as international relations are concerned.
