since it will take 66 Senators to ratify i don't see this happening
well unless BO and Reid make up some new rules. Which actually ins't that far outside the realm of possibility.

It seems like nations themselves should be able to regulate imports of arms without some supra-national treaty being put forth by a feckless, toothless group like the UN.

The article sucks, because it does little to explain the specifics of the treaty - certainly not enough to judge the treaty's merits.

Having said that, if it's a real treaty, it will take 67 votes. Can't change the rule on that without a constitutional amendment.

Paramount to remember about this " treaty" is it would require the US to cede control to the UN which would make our Second Amendment void

Dems etc say this UN treaty won't interfer with the Second Amendment
but so far the language in the treaty is pretty vague and the BO admin has proved many times over it don't need no stinkin'Constitution.

I can see why guns rights orgs are keeping this in the news.

If, as Hillary stated when she overturned the previous admin's position in this treat, the purpose of this treaty is to keep small arms out of the hands of " rogue nations" what is IRAN doing as VP of the conference??
Does any supporter think Iran is not one of if not THE abuser at getting small arms into the hands of those killing us in Afghanistan and Iraq, not to mention killing other innocent civilians?

Why would we trust this admin and the UN?

You'd have to ask Hillary and maybe the Un but I'd guess if you looked up rogue nation in a dictionary you might find the map of Iran
which is a VP of the UN conference for this matter.

One area that won't set well is an international gun registry.

Back in the summer when the latest version of this was being put together I read an article that detailed much of what the UN wanted in the treaty.
One area was the International gun registry.
I don't know if that was just for new exports but the thought of the UN wanting guns owners here in USA to aign up and list their weapons was unsettlled
The language I read then dealt with manufacture, import and retain small arms and light weapons for its self-defence and security needs, as well as for its capacity to participate in peacekeeping operations in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations. ok for a state, nation but no mention of an individual's rights.

Maybe the actual text of the treaty will be made public soon and things will have been rewritten in such a way that it will be acceptable

As to needing the Senate to ratify per our Constitution when dod the Senate ratify Agenda 21?
