Obama admin sending weapons to Mexico

My understanding of what the Obama admin did was to force gun dealers to sell weapons to people the dealers knew would send them to Mexico.
According to testimony before a congress committee from ATF Director Melson there was no plan or way to track the weapons
And we did NOT let the Gov't of Mexico know we were doing this.

Now Gee surprise the guns are turning back up in USA, even used in the killing one of our own Border agents and an ICE agent.

Amazingly Obama has not explained this though his spokesperson< Carney , said he would ask Obama when he knew about this operation and report back

Now one of the captured drug leaders admits he got weaspons from USA gov't.

and also there reports the Tampa office was doing the same thing with weapons into San Salvador.

This money for this insane project came from the Stimulus

So we send weapons into Mexico wih no way to track them, we don't let Mexico know we are doing this. We know 2 American agents have likely been killed by these guns. Neither we nor the Mexican Gov't have any idea how many innocent people have been killed by guns Obama admin sent.

The Mexican Gov't is asking for the people responsible for this to be sent to Mexico for trial. Understandably the people in the Mexican Gov't are pretty steamed at Obama.

i like how the obama administration was out blaming united states gun stores and the nra for the violence in mexico when they were the ones giving them the guns. now they are better armed than our own border patrol. media isnt covering this but this will be an election issue once the public is aware of it.

This is one of your threads where I'll wait awhile before forming an opinion. As much as you decry the credibility of the mainstream media, your own credibility falls far short of their low standard.

I haven't read much of your link. I suspect it's not an Obama policy to arm Mexican Drug Lords, but that's just a crazy notion I have. With just about everyone of your threads there is a distortion or incomplete data. I'll wait a bit.

This action by the Obama Admin, even just the parts that have been verified, is stunning.To use taxpayer money to send weapons into Mexico defies logic. Then to find those weapons were involved in the deaths of 2 American agents and unknown numbers of Mexicans plus dozens of weapons turning back up on the streets of Phoenix should be troubling.

If the other parts, that parts that the Acting director of ATF testified to, that there was no plan to track these weapons and that other obama admin agencies were involved but not revealed to the ATFshould anger most people.

So you don't choose to accept the information and links I provided Fine, great but I would hope you would try to find out on your own.

Surely you think this action is pretty serious. well Unless you have an opinion on why the Obama admin did this??
 
Operation Gunrunner is not a new project. It started under Bush. What is new, apparently, is not tracking the weapons.
ATF used to track the weapons with "etrace" software.

If hte capability was already there to track the weapons why wouldn't the gov't have continued to use it?

So why are our ATF agents being told they will be punished if they investigate where the weapons are going?

This reminds me of the intelligence officers who were told to back off every time they got close to the 911 highjackers. What the hell is going on here? Who is calling the shots here? How can they be held accountable?

Obviously, "Fast and Furious" was one of the dumbest ideas our government has ever enacted.

Obviously, the ATF and Justice Dept leadership is guilty of negligent oversight.

Obviously, Obama and Holder are trying to dodge the political heat from a horribly fumbled action.

Only trouble is, this story has too much in the way of sworn testimony before Congress and all that kind of good stuff to allow Roma's point of view to carry any weight whatsoever.

Taylor, I dont think we say that Obama obviously isnt trying to arm cartels. We can say we dont think he is, but we cant say its obvious. Somebody is trying to allow guns to get into Mexico without any oversight. To say its obvious that its not the president is putting your head in the sand.

This needs to be investigated independently to find out just how high up the ladder it goes.

I agree with everything else you said.

If what has been reported about Fast and Furious is close to accurate I don't see how even a low level obama officia could have sanctioned it.
To be clear the Project Gunrunner that started under Bush was a detection method to track weaspons. Bush preople partnered with many nations training them in the etrace software tracking system. mexico had the most agents trained by us and we worked closely with them to track weapons.
GunRunner did NOT force dealers to sell weapons to straw purchasers.
Obama admin according to testimony through" Fast and Furious " forced thousands of weapons without the etrace capability into Mexico etc. Hard to believe that is true.

2009 supplemental stimulus bill signed by obama gave $10 mil then $6 mil to F&F.
2010 supplemental stimulus bill signed by obama gave $37.9 mil to F&F.
Are we to believe Holder and Obama did not know what the scope of Fast and Furious was? Either answer is not acceptable

As Horn 2003 says this must be investigated thoroughly.
Issa in the House and Grassely in the Senate have set it in motion. Surely Dems are on board with an investigation?
 
Alex Jones said today that a new drug cartel was formed along the Mex/US border and that our gov't was sending weapons to that new cartel. Also that many of the cartel members were trained at Ft Benning. He also said the cartel was owned/operated by one of the "central banks".

You'd have to be pretty stupid or blindingly partisan to think training and working with many countries including Mexico to use a software weapon tracking system ( Original Operation Gunrunner) is the same as forcing dealers to send UNTRACKABLE weapons into Mexico and not telling Mexico ( Fast and Furious)is the same thing.
Do you think the agent who testified he went to Radio Shack to buy a tracking system was lying?

i don't think obama knew about it, even if he did, it wouldnt matter. this was a typical idiotic government plan representative of a majority of their plans...."lets send guns to mexico so that wehen the cartels get a hold of them and use them, we can track the guns and use them as evidence of their crimes..." as usual, their solution to a problem is put into action without any foresight into the ramifications....like people dieing....
