Just curious. No hidden agenda. What impressive wins has OU had this season to warrant #13.

They have had some pretty pathetic losses to unranked teams - Ohio State, TCU, Arkansas...

They really have had no meaningful wins that I can see.

Not trying to compare them to us. They beat us. I know that.

I am just wondering why they have such a high ranking without any high ranking wins. Or did I miss something?

For one, OU has the 23rd best RPI rating in the country. UT is at 31.

Oklahoma has been a model of consistency. Plus, they battled A&M to the very end. Can't wait to see how they do against Baylor though.

Totally get why we are not ranked. 7 losses will do that even if 5 of them are against Top 10 teams. ( how the hell is our RPI so low considering we play 10 games against top 25 teams

Anyway my point is that OU has 3 (4 if you count tech) losses to unranked teams and no wins against ranked teams. ( I don't think tech was ranked when they played).

I mean where's the beef behind the 12/13 ranking? I've never known close games to be a factor in ranking. Am I missing something? Do they have a win against a ranked team?

You may be confusing RPI with SOS. SOS is just one component of the RPI and while the Horns are currently #38 in the RPI rankings their SOS ranking is 25; on the other hand BlowU may be 23 in RPI but their SOS ranking is 58, so there is recognition that the Horns have played a much tougher schedule. At this point I don't think it matters much (Duke is #1 in the RPI and UCONN #3....that's going to change big time later today!); we'll have a much clearer picture and more accurate rankings by end of regular season. And OU is going to have some contests that will let us know if their current ranking and RPI is justified. It's actually better for us if their ranking and RPI rating is high when we play them, so long as we come away with a win this time!

We played Baylor better than that... just saying. #11 seems unwarranted. But what do I know?
