NYC dining

A buddy of mine is heading to NY with his wife and 2 kids and will be staying near Central Park near St. Patrick's Cathedral (51st and Madison Ave). He'd like to know some of the better places to dine and "must eat at" places. Any recommendations is much appreciated. Thanks HF's!

Sunday brunch at the Plaza used to be good, but I haven't been lately. Brunch at Tavern on the Green is good. Bobby Flay's Mesa Grill is also good. Maybe not the absolute best food, but fun places to go.
