The Left's war on gun owners is starting to heat up.

A New York newspaper has decided to publish the names and addresses of people with gun permits in its area. I guess in their mind this is sort of like being able to see where registered sex offenders live.

All the more reason against registering your guns. Not only does this tell criminals where guns can be stolen, it also tells them where all the Obama lefty, girly-men live with no guns.

More and more there becomes a wider divide amongst Americans. Time to consider separating states peacefully to avoid an inevitable conflict between the American people.

It's lunacy to see people carrying lawfully registered handguns as "the enemy" if goal, like mine, is a reduction in gun violence. Certainly I see people screened, trained, willing and capable to use firearms for good as one mitigating factor in crazy violence. I don't see it as the complete answer, which certainly has raised the ire of Hookem123. I still think it better to make efforts to keep guns out of the hands of people with history of domestic violence, property crimes and the ones with dangerous mental illness.

Why not spend the newspapers resources to try and out people that have guns illegally. The guy that shot the firefighters the other day was not allowed to have guns. The sandy hook shooter was not allowed to have guns. But let's spend our time and energy on people that legally have guns.

For the people on that list that think they are now a target; I think it's the opposite. Criminals now have list of houses not to rob and you are on it. Congrats on the free security upgrade.

Facts can be your friend.

legal age to own guns in Ciin, as has been reported many times is 21

How old was Adam Lanza?

This is just wrong on a common sense level. If the paper is so concerned about neighbor awareness/safety, why not list all the convicted felons/sex offenders also? But, I guess they have rights.

The average criminal is not going to find his next target in the paper, but that is still no excuse. Some people are so prejudice against gun ownership, they lose the ability to think straight.

Because many liberals have an inherent distrust of anyone who would buy a gun. I had one person tell me flat-out that "you don't buy a gun unless you're planning to use it." Many of them honestly believe that if you own a gun, you are a ticking time bomb. The very fact that they continue to quote the stat about being more likely to shoot someone you know than a criminal shows that - as if it makes no difference at all how trained you are, how many precautions you take or any other measure.

thank you
if BO holds true to form he will not post again in this thread thereby not having to admit he was wrong.

on related note i see some Blogger has posted the names addresses AND phone numbers of the employees of the newspaper
a truly fine quid pro quo

And vice-versa

Guns are not the problem here. A gun doesn't just up and start going off. It takes a mentally handicapped person like Lanza, or Whitman to make the thing go boom at someone.

We should be keeping them out of the hands of ex cons like the firefighter shooter. As well as getting these people help before they go off the deep end.

It's a complete lack of family values in this country and the destruction of discipline by so called parents that have contributed to this mess. You'll see little tommy screaming about not getting his way in a grocery store, and heaven help the poor parents if they actually spanked the kid.

Legal gun ownership, or violent movies/games are not the problem.

I'll play Modern Warfare, or Sniper games or watch Jango whatever, or any other violent movie, and I don't feel the urge to grab my 9mm and shoot a bunch of people.

I anxiously await the next witch hunt that lists the names and addresses of all those that can ball their hands into a fist because, well, people have fistfights. Or, all those that own matches because, well, fires can kill people. What about cars? People have wrecks; some under the influence. Oh yeah. List the names and addresses of all those that have liquor cabinets or have recently purchased a six-pack.

This crap is so incredibly surreal. Things are going on all over this country and the left just finds the politically expedient target - Never Let A Tragedy Go To Waste! - and picks at it like a scab. People are poor. Blame the rich! People are on drugs. Blame pharmaceuticals! People are here illegally and, in some cases, taking advantage of the system. Blame white guys and their racism! People are getting fatter and unhealthier. Blame large soft drinks and high caloric foods!

I just don't get why common sense and personal responsibility just disappeared over the last few years.

Sorry about that. Haven't been on a rant in a few days. I feel better now.

Adam Lanza did not own the guns he used. His mother owned them. She owned them legally. He took them, killed her, and killed the others. The legal owner of the guns was a ticking time bomb.
This doesn't happen to the vast majority of gun owners, but it happens enough to result in 30,000 deaths per year in this country.
And if you think it can't happen to you, you are delusional.

Before someone suggests we outlaw trains, maybe Kendra's law should be expanded in The NorthEast to stop gun violence? The problem is mental illness - not trains or guns.

Does ANYone on here think the newspaper is doing a ' civic" thing by publishing names and addresses of law abiding citizens?

and even after their own employees names and addresses have been put out there the newspaper is going to publish even more names of law abiding citizens.
