So with Lamar and UTSA adding football next year, how many full scholarships will exist in Texas? We have approximately 10 D-1 schools, which would be around 850, but I don't have a clue how many D-1A or D-2 scholarships exist.

We do have the most of any state correct? Florida seems to have a ton of smaller D-1 schools. I wonder how close they are?

Division III schools fill their athletic teams by handing out academic scholarships.

It is in the future but Texas A&M at Corpus Chrisit looks like it will be adding football in the future. There is serious talk of buiding a stadiium there.

Junior Colleges= 85 limit, some conferences limit smaller number
NAIA= 24 limit, divisible into partials
NCAA Div III= no athletic, but can use need basis academic
NCAA Div II= 36 limit, divisible into partials
NCAA Div I-AA= 63 full, or divisible into as many as 85 students
NCAA Div I= 85 full, no partials allowed

Lots of ways to get into a school and play football on scholarship.

Plenty of JuCos like Blinn, Tyler, Navarro, Cisco, Kilgore, and Trinity Valley

Corrected names= ACU, not ACC, and West Texas A&M, not West Texas St.

thanks gkp, I'm curious. Look at the Junior colleges. With 85, does that mean they have recruiting classes of 42 each year? or does that mean they have redshirts in there, which would mean classes of 28 each year for three years?

If a kid used up his redshirt year at a Junior college, he would be physically mature and still have two years left. Of course, he would also run out of courses to take, unless he started a double major. Even if he only took 12 hours a semester, 12 X 6 = 72 hours, above the normal 66 hours for an A.D.

Dave Campbell's Texas Football (at texasfootball.com) has links and schedules for I think all Texas football teams.
