Per Rivals, all but OL Harrison, LB Hughes, & OL James have signed their LOIs.

No surprises yet.

Collins, A Davis, D Davis, Hammad, Huhn. Meander, Oliver, Perkins, Raulerson, Swaim, Swoopes and Warrick are in.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard indeed!
But, is this the beginning of the end for this program under Mack?

Will this even be a top 20 recruting class?

The funny thing is last year everyone bemoaned the offensive line so the Horns go out and get best offensive line recruiting class in a long while and instead of celebrating that fact, everyone is bemoaning the D-Line recruiting failures. This is a good not great class with a couple of glaring holes at TE and DL. It is not a "sky is falling" class as some seem to want to make it. A few JUCO DL's next year and an emphasis on the DL in recruiting at the HS level will address that hole.

Meanwhile, welcome aboard the ones who did sign and now get to attend Texas,

Relax!

Our 2009 class was ranked #5, '10 was #3, '11 was #3, and '12 was #2.

So, either these ratings don't mean anything, in which case you shouldn't worry, or we've got a lot of talent on the roster already. This one class isn't going to make or break us.

The quality of this class is very good. The quantity is low due to available scholarships which will lower the class ranking. The average ranking per player is still among the top programs.

'11 and '12 have the experience now and we need better productivity from those groups...NOW!! The talent is there, but needs more development by the coaching staff.

Just for perspective. Much is made about lack of DL recruits in this class, but last Feb. Mack signed a number of DLs still on campus, most with 4 years of eligibility left: Caleb Bluitt, Paul Bioyette, Malcom Brown, Bryce Cottrell, Shiro Davis, Alex Norman, Hassan Ridgeway. I know Brown and Davis played well as true frosh. Surely another solid contributor or two will emerge,.

Per ESPN, Lancaster, Tx DE Daeshon Hall has signed with TAMU.

He decommitted from UT to verbal to Washington to be closer to family. Now he has decommitted from UW and signed with the Aggies.

I say the sky is falling. I'm thankful for the recruits the Horns signed, but I'm appalled at the fact the people are choosing the likes of Baylor, TCU, etc over UT. Something is amiss.

Two just misses this year with WVa & tcu almost = 11 win season.
It's not nearly as bad (other than ou game) as some of you would like to think.

Sorry, need to help out a bit.

The Horns scored a TD against OSU in the last 29 seconds to win 41-36 and scored a TD against KU in the last 12 seconds to win 21-17.

If we get to rationalize about how we "almost won two more games", we also need to recognize we "almost lost two more games."

Let's don't be aggy about counting the "almost wins" and throwing out the "almost lost" games.

I'm enjoying all the message board hysterics.....they'll be all the more enjoyable when we put together a decent season next year.

From Mack's NSD Press Conference:

Mack said they had 16 scholarships available and used 15.

Raulerson will be tried on OL first.

Darius James will be started on OL but not at Center.

Changes for current players:
H Ridgeway will move from DE to DT
C Bluiett moves from TE to DE
J Harris moves from WR to Flex TE

Mack did not go over how 16 scholarships were available. With known exits (SRs and players opting not to use remaining eligibility) from the program, 13 scholarships appeared to be available assuming last years two walk-on scholarships are retained by those walk-ons. It will be interesting to see how the numbers came about but it may be August before it is clear.

I remember many people saying we were going to have a
"decent" season this past year led by our great defense.

Mack also said that this was not a great year for DT's in the
state, so he was not concerned that we didn't sign any.
I find that kind of an amazing statement.

Not a great year for DT in the state. Now that is some seriously funny or pathetic **** coming from Mack. So five of the top twelve DT are from Texas. Not a good year, he is delusional.

I thought Mack said that NEXT year will not be a great year for DTs and that Texas stocked up last year on DEs and DTs so signing a DT this year was not critical.

I may have misheard. I haven't been able to find the presser release yet.
