Anybody listen to the Sunday morning NPR puzzle with the puzzlemaster, Will Shortz? Usually the best part of the show.

Anyways, the puzzle this week is to take the phrase "Consumer Protection Laws" and rearrange the letters to get 1) a topic in the news, and 2) a person involved with the news. The actual question is on the npr web site - may be more helpful than my rendition. The "topic in the news" has 2 words, the first word having 7 letters and the last word having 5; the person in the news also is 2 words, first word with 5 letters, second word also with 5 letters.

Not too bad this week. If you know the answer send it in!

Ok, it's past the deadline.

You're right, nuclear power is the topic in the news; and Scott Simon is the guy involved with the news.

Here's last Sunday's (3/27) puzzle. It's so easy it's embarrassing.

From the NPR site:

From puzzle writer Francis Heaney: Take the word "calm" and flip the letters A and L to get "clam." Take the last name of a film director known for using profanity, and flip two pairs of letters in place to get a word used as a substitute for profanity. Who's the director, and what's the word?

Last week's answer was Tarantino (Quentin) and tarnation.

This week's (4/3/11) puzzle is a little more difficult, but not too bad.

Assign each letter of the alphabet a numeric value, with A = 1, B = 2, C = 3, etc. You get the picture.

Find a classic piece of literature whose combined (summed) numeric value of its letters = 35.

The book's name has 8 letters total, comprised of two words.

I skipped last week's because I didn't get it. Angstroms and grams and tons, if you're interested,

Here is this weeks puzzler:

Take a venue for certain sports events. This venue is comprised of 9 letters, 3 of which repeat. Remove one set of those 3 letters (leaving you with 6 letters) and upon rearranging those 6 letters you'll have a piece of sports equipment.

Not too hard. I was hoping velodrome was the venue, but no such luck.
