Mad props to Coach Hammock.

My wife's family (all from Chicago) have a big stake in what goes on in DeKalb. One of the buildings is named for her uncle. The Huskies seem to pull it together once every decade, and it's really satisfying when they make national news like this.

That said, my experience at Huskie Stadium has been... less than stellar. Even with VIP stuff rolled out, it's probably the worst gameday atmosphere I've experienced.

Since moving to Chicago 4 years ago, I've learned more about NIU. Dekalb is just 30 mins west of us and our high school has graduation in their arena.

Coach Hammock played at NIU and just coached his alma mater to the biggest win in school history. NIU has taken on a lot or kids from Southside of Chicago that didn't get a chance at the Power 4 schools. Good for them. This is a win they can build a program around in the MAC.
