The blogger I'm about to link refers to the Eastern part of Ukraine as Novorussia. Just like other troubled areas involved in conflicts, there is quite a bit of political infighting as to the leadership and decisions as this region struggles to gain autonomy. The second part of his post goes into Russia. When he refers to the Empire, he is talking about the US or what he sometimes refers to in other posts as the Anglo/Zionist Empire.
