Notre Dame Football

That old fart sounds like he's got a mouthful of marbles every time he speaks. I'm generally left clueless as to what he'sh trying to shay.

My personal opinions:

Charlie Weis needed player talent when he came to ND,

He inherited a squad as bad as A&M's 2003 squad that Fan inherited from RC, and had to replace 85 players with some with talent starting from the bottom up for five years.

Charlie Weis has recruited well, and he will start to win as his first recruiting class is red shirt sophs this year; When they are red shirt seniors ND will be back again in 2010.

2006 signed 2 five star and 10 four star players.

2007 signed 1 five star and 12 four star players.

2008 signed 3 five star and 16 four star players.

That's good recruiting especially with a lousy W-L record due to the previous coaches lousy recruiting classes he inherited!

I would trade what A&M has in a coach and AD for what ND has in a New York second! Or any other decent coach and AD.

A&M hasn't signed/committed as many four and five star players in Sherman's first two recruiting classes as ND has in just any one of ND's classes!

But our recruiting has become just a bad Aggie joke under Byrne, Turgeon and Sherman!

Broken record...broken record...broken record...broken record...4 stars, 5 stars, no stars...broken record...broken record...

Better hope Lou's wrong, so all those ND clauses in the BCS contract can be erased. It's amazing that he can speak at all, considering he's been dead for at least two years.

Please tell me that Holtz iz not going to do that inane halftime pep talk he did every week last year. That was lame even by ESPN standards

ESPiN stopped having standards awhile ago.

I love this time of the year when the Notre Dame bashing begins. Weis needed to cheat to be good. He had to rely on video taping other teams walk throughs.

Just the annual build up before the break down for the Irish. I know why Lou is all over Notre Dame, but I don't understand why others with ESPN choose to follow his lead.

I understand tradition, television exposure, recent good recruiting etc. Seems like it is in their contract to be optimistic about Notre Dame as if college football couldn't make it without that school.

You guys don't get it, where is the deserved and proper respect for ND on these boards? The Irish are loaded with recent recruiting talent. Weis has them re-focused. THEY are Notre Dame by gawd!

Lou Holtz is right, they will win 11 games... unfortunately, it will take two seasons to do it.

Great White is right. I think Purdue has the edge in that game. I think they have a better chance to beat Washington than Purdue. I also think they won't beat Washington. I hope Ty gets this one.

7-5, possibly as high as 9-3 with some lucky breaks. Good enough to give Weis another season but maybe not good enough to sustain consistent top-shelf recruiting on promises of halcyon days to come.

I think they are so invested in him, have so little potential that they may just stick with him a couple more years no matter what. It's gotten quiet from the Notre Dame excuse makers and apologists.

This is the year UT will overtake ND in all-time wins for second place behind Meat-chicken. I believe UT is only 3 wins behind ND as we speak.

I'd like to believe that ND has become irrelevant in the college football world but I don't see how that can be true if Weis is pulling in the #2 recruiting class in the nation. Kind of like Bama. People seem to think they are dead and buried too.

There are still grandfather's around that tout ND and their glory days. But they are dying off and in a generation I can see ND being legend like Army. You will tell your kids that ND and Army used to be great teams and they will be blown away in disbelief. Notre Dame is a has been and a wanna be again. Bye Notre Dame.

I dislike Notre Dame as much as the next guy, but I don't think that they are going totally down the tubes. They are a national school with a national reputation and a national following, and unless catholics all emigrate someday, ND will command an audience.

Army went down the shitter because of post graduation service requirements. Society passed them by.

They were talking about that Lou is getting a statue this year. He will be giving the team their famed "Pep Talk". As much as I don't want to listen to this retarded old man, it will be alot of gibberish that I want to hear. And to see the faces of the team when they don't know what he is saying. "Let'sh go Irishshsh. When thishsh for me'sh!"

Wow... there sure are some here allowing their hatred to blind their intelligence.

ND is on the rise... just look at the past few recruiting classes. Weiss is a great coach. I'm personally scared of what they will be like in a couple of years. We don't need them good again and back cherry picking Texas recruits.

It is only a matter of time. This year? I see 8 wins with the possibility of shitting out a 9th.

He has had good players and has had good classes who should have already been developed. His best years were with another coaches players.

Why does he get a pass of more years of "his players" when other coaches don't? How many years does he need. Does he have to have incoming freshman all his guys? How many years do other coaches get before they get legit criticism? 2, maybe 3.

With a team that had more of his players on it than not he barely won a couple of games and looked miserable doing so. There are teams that make use of freshman, red shirt freshman and soph. and even juniors. It is not a whacky concept.

We'll have to see. But he does not deserve a pass on what may happen in the future. He should already have seen the results if he was such a good coach. Lesser coaches have done more with less. Don't give me this crap about their tough schedule. Stanford, the service academy trifecta and others don't qualify.
