Northern California

Am making a weeklong trip to the San Francisco Bay Area which ultimately ends up by Trinidad to spread my father's ashes where my mother's ashes are in the Prairie Creek Redwood State Park. Along the way, I have a family reunion in Danville, a day trip to San Bruno, then stops in Vacaville, Santa Rosa, Mendocino and Trinidad. Along the way, does anyone have any recommendations for things to see and do?

My primary focus is to see the redwoods my parents so much loved as native Californians that they wanted their remains to be a part of.

Sounds like a nice trip.

Here's a tidbit for Vacaville. There is a little bit of wine country west of Vacaville. (We moved from Alamo, the town adjacent to Danville, 2 years ago). We discovered one place, Ledgewood Creek, and starting buying cases of $10 wine from them. Google their address, its like the first exit off 80 after you merge from 680 (or is it 780?). After some wine tasting, go do lunch at a place called "Meggets Corner". Its among a few old buildings in the middle of wine fields, very nice. We did this routine on the odd Saturday a few times a year, and it was just great. Who knew you could have the wine country experience without the crowds?

I'm guessing your reunion folks will clue you in on places to eat around Danville. There are a few good ones, its a wealthy, but pretty boring town.

Enjoy your trip.

Hope you had a fun time.
