I will be staying in Norman next weekend for a youth baseball tournament. Any suggestions as to a big, loud, fun, non-chain restaurant close by to take a team of 11 year olds and their parents for dinner? OKC is too far, although I do plan to catch the Horns play on Friday. Thanks for any suggestions.

OKC is too far? well, then you are kind of out of luck on your request. I think you will find that most of the teams will go to OKC to unwind. Everything is in OKC.

In Norman you have Coach's, JR's bbq, O'Conells and the mont. That is about it. Everything else is chained.

yes there is a johnny's on main. i'm not a johnny's fan, but i realize i am in the minority. that might be a good choice.

Boomerang on West Main is a good choice, as would be JR's or Johnnies.

Thanks for all of the suggestions. Sorry Jimmy, I posted this before I knew the tournament schedule, but I appreciate your contribution anyway. Looks like we will have to catch the Nebraska-KSU game instead.

Campus Corner on the north side of campus has several good restaurants. Louie's and Othello's would be good choices. Another good spot is The Mont just down the road on Robinson, northeast of campus.
