Norman, OK is a top ten small town?

It's #6 on this list complied by CNN. I've never been to Norman, but I do know it's full of Okies and that means it must suck.

What criteria do they use? It is not a stand-alone town, but part of the Oklahoma City MSA. It is a suburb pretty much.

The only good thing coming out of Norman is I-35 southbound.

norman really is a pretty damn good town to raise a family. the housing prices are way below the nation's average, they now have adequate shopping and restaurants, and the commute to OKC for work is minimal. it is a top ten "small town". that doesn't surprise me in the least. especially considering this article seems to focus more on what you can get for your money. in that case, norman is probably a big winner.

Haven't checked in detail, but seems that most, if not all, of them are part of a much larger SMSA that provides a lot of what makes them good places to live; most likely without their larger neighbors in the SMSA, none of those in the top 25 would be there.

And the erronoeous comment about the stadium being packed when OU plays UT points out the suspect nature of these lists in the first place.

Remember - were it not for UT, Austin would be just another Little Rock!!!

There's a reason that housing prices are well below the national average. That doesn't make it a great place to live; it simply means it sucks and nobody wants to live there.

Interesting to see the pretty dramatic differences in that list from year to year. Doesn't look like many places make it more than once.

I personally wouldn't want to live in Round Rock any more. Might as well live in Austin, and after thinking about it, I'm not even sure about that.

I saw a list that had Stevens Point, Wisconsin, as one of the top 10 cities of ALL sizes. It's nowhere to be found on the list of hundreds of contenders on this year's CNN-Money list. Look at the others on that list with Stevens Point.

These are bigger beauty contests than anything with the Cal Golden Bears in it ...
