Norah, Norah, No Norah

Actually Norah O'Donnell sounded more like Rose O'Donnell, and she exposed herself as the partisan hack that she is. (Is she going to rip Obama for supporting a tax increase when he previously signed a bill extending the Bush tax cuts? I doubt it.)

The truth of the matter is that the White House wanted $987B in cuts. The $500B cut was a compromise agreement to facilitate having any deal at all and averting a default. Everybody knew the GOP leadership didn't want the defense cuts, which is why Ryan offered an alternative that didn't include them.

Having said that, the compromise was idiotic on the part of both sides. They passed a horrific budget sequestration that would go into effect unless a committee of partisan idiots who had never compromised on anything in their lives would somehow suddenly reach a compromise on something.
