No Rice in 2011

That is an extreme disappointment. I might be in the minority, but I regard our ongoing rivalry with Graham and Rice as the highlight of the non-conference schedule--hate losing to 'em but very much enjoy beating 'em.

Anyone know why this series was dropped or suspended?

my understanding is that it was rice's fault do to a scheduling oversite.

Your understanding is wrong.

Texas dropped the Rice series and added Hawaii because it allowed them to add 3 fall scrimmages to their schedule. (For any game a mainland school adds in the islands, they gain that many more games against the normal max of 56). Since the fall interscholastic scrimmages count against your 56, Augie had to either drop a spring series or replace a series with Hawaii. He obviously couldn't drop a conference series, so he had to find a weekend that Hawaii had open outside of the conference schedule. That happened to be the Rice weekend.

That's why Texas is playing @Hawaii, while Rice is hosting La Tech.

We host Stanford again this year. March 4-6. Guess we'll have some future road trips out there.

I would love to see the Horns make their way up to Tulsa to play ORU one weekend...It'll be hard for me to see them any other way...until Omaha.
