Nigeria State Police Commissioner Sanusi Rufai told Reuters that he suspected that the terrorist group Boko Haram was behind the attack, but declined to elaborate.
Idi Mato said he could not give an exact death toll as security forces still are recovering bodies of students mostly aged between 18 and 22, but he said as many as 50 may have been killed.
The Nigerian military has already collected 42 bodies and transported 18 wounded students to Damaturu Specialist Hospital, 25 miles north, said a military intelligence official, who insisted on anonymity because he is not authorized to speak to the press...

Most christians are not in favor of torture and there is no reason why any of them should be called upon to denounce terrorist acts by people acting in their name.
Most muslims, ditto. Especially American muslims.
And by the way, trying to keep people from opening mosques in the US is a violation of the amendment to the constitution that immediately precedes the one that protects the more valuable right to bear arms.

I'm not christian so I don't have a dog in this fight, but your post is ridiculous. There was already a thread on this subject, and I was the first person to state that the guy's comments were stupid. But on a day when islamic extremists killed 40 students you bring up a non-sequitur trying to equate islamic extremism to god knows what. Christian churches and jewish synagogues and christians and jews and moderate muslims are being killed on a daily basis. Don't forget these facts. There are more than a handful of islamic extremists out there and they are making the world a less safe place.
Technically Islamic Terrorist does not exist. There can be an Islamic person and there can be a terrorist but they cannot be one in the same. Just like there can not be a Texas Aggie.

If you claim to be a vegetarian yet eat meat you are not a vegetarian, period. You can stray a bit and eat fish but you are a Pescatarian. Not a vegetarian. Vegans can be hard core but are still vegetarians and not carnivores.
Sadly most people of any faith follow it poorly. This goes for many if not most of the supposed Christians we know here on the boards and in real life. Hypocrites, poor followers yet they still say they are whatever it is they say they are. The worst type.

I know more Muslims that are better at their faith than I know Chiristians. Yet the number of Christians I know FAR out number the Muslims I know. Tsk-tsk, for shame.
I know very few legit good Christians and the sad thing is that most if not all of you reading this know it's the same for you. Just make sure you are good at whatever you follow. That's all you can control.

loop, you miss the fact that Islam has only one book all revealed to one person and it claims to be straight from God. This book instructs its adherents to kill in various and descriptive ways throughout. I am indeed friends with quite a few Muslims and I assure you, that you that you are quite lacking in your understanding of what Islam is. I have a good friend who left Islam to follow Christ and he has taught me much about Islam. I am also reading books and regularly dialogue with my Muslim friends about the differences between Christianity and Islam.
I've been fortunate to be around a number of devout Chrsitians. It's pretty sad that some of humanity's most loving, giving, fun and joyful people have their devotion represented in the media by angry, judgemental folks involking the name Christianity for political purpose.

Philippine government troops claimed more than a week ago to be mopping up a failed attempt by Muslim rebels to seize the port city of Zamboanga, but news media report continuing clashes and mounting casualties.
The fighting, in its 17th day when dawn broke over the paralyzed city Thursday, has destroyed 1,000 buildings, driven at least 80,000 local residents from their homes and killed scores, Asia Times Online reported. It has also reportedly spread to areas of the southern island of Mindanao and has involved other Muslim militants, including Abu Sayyaf.
"The Zamboanga crisis has laid bare the inherent vulnerabilities of the Philippine government in providing security to its citizens as well as instituting durable peace in Mindanao," the online news site said in an analysis of the crisis.
Government-run media have reported little about the sporadic fighting that has closed schools and transit operations for more than two weeks, apparently in fear of scaring off investors and tourists and alarming the millions of Filipinos who work and live abroad. Independent media, though, have lamented the dearth of attention on the Philippine crisis in comparison with the four-day siege of a shopping mall in Nairobi, Kenya.

My initial analogy was not meant to be exact; my point was that all American muslims should not be held accountable for atrocities by people who share a version of the same religion.
The Klan has always claimed to be white protestant christian. I don't denounce them when they commit the occasional atrocity. In fact, one of the mainstays of american christians has been the idea that we don't have to agree on much of anything. There are a lot of intolerant christians but none so intolerant as the fanatics in islam who think you should die if you don't worship their god.

If a group identified themselves as Catholics and carried out spectacular terror in the name of Catholicism, I would bet every dollar I have that the Pope and all of the Cardinals and Bishops and Priests worldwide, would denounce the violence and terrorism in the strongest possible terms.
Further, and more importantly because actions far out weigh words, if this Catholic terrorist group decided to seek safe haven within Vatican city, the church would actively aid in rounding them up and turning them over to the authorities.

good point, but the catholic church has a titular leader (even though most catholics pick and choose which church doctrines they will follow) and the muslims don't. Islam is not a straight line doctrine religion. Lots of muslims worship and practice their religion in differeing ways. Some are nuts, for example. MOst are not.
Read a little about the disputes between the Sunni and Shiite divisions. They dislike each other more than they dislike christianity from what I can tell.
THe Wahabbis are a lot dfferent from the Alawites, etc, ad infinitum.
The provincial retards in the US don't seem to want to look into this set of contradictions and so you have morons like the guy on Fox making preposterous proposals and equally ill informed people bleating to the same tune.
