No more Billy Packer?

I understand the business aspect of what he said. But I still fail to grasp why it became such a big deal elsewhere. I was at a sports bar watching the game with about 15 others. When the score went to 40-12 and the way the teams were playing, the majority of people watching said the same thing: This game is over. That Carolina got within 4 does not change that fact.

I find him terribly annoying. I feel like he thinks he's more important that the actual game itself. His color commentary also lacks. For example, it took him about 6 possessions during the final game to realize that Kansas was in a Box and 1 vs Memphis. He then decided to keep telling the audience for the next 2 possessions that that's what Kansas was in. Any above average basketball fan could see that that's what Kansas was in and it annoyed me that he kept telling the audience, like he was so smart and had it figured out.

He was right. Actually the game was over before the lead got to be 28.

That said he is a boor and an ACC homer but he doesnt really bug me that much.

I like Billy Packer and Jim Nanz, and I have no problem with what he said about the game being over.

I'm not really a fan of Packer, but I didn't realize how careful a commentator should be in that situation. Seriously?

If I was in Packer's place, I would've said the game was decided before the opening tip

I would've been screwed.

I was thinking what he said at the time, so I really can't say that I thought it was out of line.

I'd be curious to see what happened to the rating during that period.

I figured UNC would make a big run, although I didn't expect them to make KU sweat.

What I've read this year makes me think that Packer may have checked out mentally on basketball. I figure there will be a mutual parting. Then we can hope that Jay Bilas gets the seat.

Packer thinks he is God's gift to the world. You would think he actually won several Final Fours, much less coached a game, based on his self-righteous commentary. With that said, Packer's commented what everyone was thinking at the time. Kudos to him for ignoring political correctness.
