No love for AJ?

Where's the love for this guy, he's shooting lights out and was the only one down the stretch that could make a FT. He's usually the first one most here blame when we lose but when we win he's given little credit. Time to give this man some much deserved props. Great shooting the past two games, hope he stays confident and keeps shooting. We'll need him against the Lopez bros.

AJ has played great the last 2 games. Hope he keeps it up and doesn't hit one of those cold spells. Congrats AJ on stepping up when the games are the biggest!!

I'm a little worried about us having to rely on outside shooting having to play in the huge reliant arena. Depth perception can cause problems when your not used to having that type of backdrop.

I love AJ.

AJ FOR THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

ITS GOOOOOOOOODDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

I have noticed very little **** talking about AJ. He is a streaky shooter though and has been called that honestly. He gets hot and he gets cold, either way I want him taking the shots from the outside, especially the corner. I hope he keeps this white hot streak throughout March and keeps the poise he has shown so far. AJ shows that in the tourney there is no substitute for experience and he is showing why he has been there three years in a row. Keep up the good work.

If AJ and Atch hit the threes they "should" hit (open shots), we can't lose IMHO. It opens the game up so wide for DJ to drive and kick or finish. I love AJ in any situation but the fast break three- to his credit he hasn't shot those in a while...

Hook 'em!

What he's doing on offense is overshadowing what he's been doing on defense, and it shouldn't.

He's also very rarely forcing shots, which is going to be important when teams start face guarding him. Neither Peay nor Miami had any kind of answer for him, and weren't willing to dedicate the resources necessary to shut him down, choosing instead to focus on DJ, either by doubling/hedging aggressively or going to a 2-3 zone to prevent dribble penetration. When teams focus on him, he's fully capable of making them pay with his vision and passing ability. That will be his challenge in upcoming games.

I'll also point out he was completely working McClinton over in the first half running through screens. That's another aspect of his game overlooked. His conditioning is so superior, he's simply running his opposite into the ground, without so much as a breather on the bench.

Stanford is going to have huge problems trying to match up with UT's guards.

If Atchley is shooting treys then we are going to get killed on boards. We would do better to get Mason some open looks, people forget his can shoot too, he doesn't do it a lot but he can shoot.

If Atchley is shooting threes he'll be pulling a big man away from the basket to defend him.

If he's shooting threes while Stanford is in a zone, they won't have anyone on the perimeter who can affect his shot, and the Cardinal won't box out well. It's how Marquette rebounded so well against them, even though they have even less of an inside presence than Texas does. Stanford stayed in a 2-3 zone most of the game to stop dribble penetration --- something they're really bad at in man, and something in which Texas excels.

Defensive rebounding will be a problem, but that's nothing new.

Agree SLX. If Atchley is shooting threes and no one goes with him then he will light them up. If they send someone out there than Damion will have a field day on the boards only competing with one big man instead of two.

I dont know the numbers but Mason is one of our better offensive rebounders. When he decides he wants the ball, he just explodes and goes up to get it. See the KU game (in Austin) and he had two like that vs Miami.
