No Battlestar Thread?

Just started the series this week, finished first 4 episodes. WAAAY better than I thought it would be. It's really a drama that just happens to be set in a sci-fi backdrop. And that blonde cylon is absolutely smoking hot.

Frak! We're all Cylons...

I agree with you atxbomber. No way I thought that person was or is the 5th. That brings to me a bunch of questions about Resurrection ships, compatibility, a lack of a body to be recycled in, etc.

And what happened to you know who at the locker was very unexpected to me. I guess they had not been happy in so very long that they just wanted to cling to that.

Seeing Felix hobble around still makes me sad.

Somebody help me out -- I thought that there is still some question of who the 5th is (or was). But I am not an avid watcher, so prolly missed something.

Doesn't this kindof shoot to hell the whole "12 models" thing? Are we supposed to believe that the whole planet was just a bunch of copies of those 12 models?

Not if we presume the final five are all that's left of the ones from Earth. Then its only the Final Five and the Colonial seven.

When the cylons would have their earth flashbacks, there were people other than the 12 (or 5) models walking around on earth, right? I really did not pay that close of attention, but I thought there were more than just the 12 (or 5) models. And what is Starbuck?

Spot on assessment by Dirk. I'm watching it for the sake of completion, but that's it.

It's just a depressing show now. Nothing good has happened to any character over the course of the series. They go out of their way to be depressing. I could understand the first season or two being bleak, but at some point you have to change course and have the characters grow.

Can you name one competent officer onboard Galactica?

Every character is fracked up.

actually the 2 most competent officers are the two who got destroyed the most in the last few episodes.

Felix (who personally worked to save as many people as possible when he was Baltar's military aid), and Dualla, who had been Ad. Adama's rock of a communication officer.

Felix cracked on the "search for earth mission" and Dualla cracked after all her dreams of a healthy,, thriving Earth, were shattered.

I would not call Felix competent. He handed the presidential election to Baltar and 20% of the human race was subsequently killed.

Didn't Felix incite the mutiny on Starbuck's sewer freighter that led to him getting his leg shot off?

Dualla isn't much more competent. She was banging her C.O., banging the President's aide, and was generally a passive, agressive, brooding malcontent.

Every character is fracked. More Six please, she may be fracked, but at least she's easy to look at.

fwiw, the dirk benedict piece was written before the show started.

that said, he's full of crap and seems to want to go back to the days of "good guys and bad guys" as if that's how it was back in the 70's or before.

there's always been shades of gray in life. this show just further reflects that.

So you are unwilling to call the Nazis bad guys? They were just a shade of grey in your worldview?

And the Khmer Rouge were what exacly.....misunderstood?

OBL a freedom fighter?

---------------------------------

Anyways, in light of last night's show, I tend to sympathize with the mutineers -- Cylons cant be trusted. Although I dont like their odds of success. And the scene with Starbuck and Skippy was excellent.

Speaking of her, what is Starbuck?

*****Spoiler for the 1/23 show********

So much for Felix being a competent officer. I loved how
Tigh kept shooting his one good eye over at Felix when he refused to say "sir".

What / where is Starbuck? Good questions. Other than her conversation with Felix, she wasn't in last night's episode. Where is Anders? Not much going on between the two of them since she found out he is a Cylon.

They don't have many episodes left to wrap things up in, and it seems like they have a lot left to explain.

I love Battlestar, but 1/23 was not the most compelling episode I have seen. 1/30 looks to be a lot better.

EDIT: It was a transitional episode, and a setup episode. I get that.

Felix is gonna have to die. He has become a hollow shell of the man he once was. In fact, I would venture to say that he's become the Anakin Skywalker of BSG.

I've always kinda like Felix, and initially didn't like where this was going. but the more I thought about it, the more it made sense. Gaeta (like Dualla) has always been a professional, does what he's told, on the belief that what he's being told to do is right. Now that he's seen where that's taken them (Dualla is dead, his leg is gone, Earth was a wasteland, etc.), I can imagine him feeling pretty betrayed. Then on top of that, the enemy they've been fighting against is now supposedly their friends (or at least Adama's proposing as such). We as the audience know that Adama is probably right (and even if he isn't, Zarek certainly doesn't have the answer), but why would you have faith anymore that Adama and Roslin know what they're doing? It's too bad Zarek's just an opportunist and will probably lead them down a similar path as Baltar, if given the opportunity.
